What I've heard from Hawks camp

They've got on-air personalities doing their shows in Cheney all week, interviewing coaches and players, and watching camp. I've had a little chance to hear tidbits at work and during the commute, why not share--

First thing to report is that Mike Holmgren had what is considered his biggest blowup in five years. The young defense was flyin' around, Hass threw a reported seven INT's during team, and Mount Holmgren absolutely erupted!!! I guess it was just totally brutal, ripping his precious offense a new nether region, led by emotion and absolute disgust for a group of men.

Hamlin looks good, sounds even better. You get the feeling he is kind of too dumb to remember he has a head injury. Boulware is starting to finally become fully recovered, and former Chicago Bear Mike Green has impressed.

Darrell Jackson. This one kinda scares me. Evidently he has only had mandatory contact with the team in the offseason, which in some cases might be normal--but with this group of character guys, if you're not there, you kinda stand out and it looks bad. The big issue is that he is supposed to be ready by now from the knee, and he's not even close. It was so bad that he and Holmgren had to have a sit-down over the weekend to discuss the future. I'm sure he'll be back and he'll have a good year, but the issue is that they switched Nate Burleson to his position to fill in, so once DJack returns, Burleson will have to learn another new position all over again, and get re-acquainted with Matt Hasselbeck.

The linebackers seem to be stealing the show. Two hungry, second year players (Lofa and L.Hill), and now finally a stud to go with em' in Julian Peterson, who looks like a freak thus far.

2nd rounder Darryl Tapp is already becoming a bit of a secret weapon for John Marshall, who even has the pass-rushing specialist DE standing up at times and playing pass coverage.

Kelly Jennings seems talented, I really have a hunch he'll be starting over Kelly Herndon by week 3, if not by the end of camp.

Pork Chop Womack of course is filling in fine for Hutch.

My only real qualm with the Seahawks right now is that every time you hear somebody talking about him, they say Seneca Wallace is the best athlete on the team. My question is, how smart is it to never have your best athlete on the field? I really wish they would have got it done to get another competent quarterback on the roster so we could use Seneca's playmaking ability elsewhere, not all the time, just every once in a while.

If Holmgren's tirade can help get this offense to the places it can reach, watch out again folks cause this defense don't roll over no more.

I guess holmgren UNLOADED on the offense today..... as they were get'in their asses handed to them by the defense. I agree on the D...... they're gonna be good, especially if the hammer comes back from the head injury fult tilt. The other key is julian Peterson's health. No question the talent he has but he hasn't been able to stay healthy either. If he plays the whole year watch out.... 'cause leroy hill & tatupu are stars in the making.

WHOA! Hasselbeck threw SEVEN INTs in practice today?? So, if Favre threw five INTs the other day and people say that means he'll throw 30 INTs. :D

5 INTs is 70% of 7 INTs...Hass will be throwing 30% more INTs than Favre...I guess I have to mark him down for 42 picks this year. Ouch.

Holmy probably remembers how he sucked in Green Bay after winning the SB.

I don't like Hasselbeck...it seems like when he has a very good or promising season...the next one he falls flat on his face...

I will avoid him this year and someone else can draft him..

Big mistake IMO- this offense is finley tuned, they will score in bunches- Hass is coming into his own. Burleson, Stevens, a real nice WR2/TE combo- easy division, schedule-

offense is the best in the NFL- period.

DJax will be fine- I look for Hass to have a real nice year

Maybe, Indy could be the most potent.

If Av's feelings on both SA and Hasselbeck come to fruition, the Seattle offense would probably experience a one year collapse of historic proportions. Unlikely, there is just way too much talent on this team. The Hawks offense is finally clicking under Holmgren, they are a fine tuned west coast offense hitting on all cylinders. Predicting the demise of SA and a mediocre/crappy year by Hass? Lotta gut feeling and little logic, IMO.

D-JACK 'ON SCHEDULE': Holmgren said top wide receiver Darrell Jackson likely will not play until the team's Aug. 26 exhibition game at San Diego.

Jackson, who had a career-high 87 receptions in 2004, had surgery on his right knee Oct. 12 to repair torn cartilage. He missed 10 games but returned to catch 20 passes in three playoff games, including five for 50 yards in the Super Bowl.

Weeks after that game, Jackson had a second knee surgery. He is watching training camp practices from the sideline wearing his practice jersey, team visor and a smile.

"He's right on schedule," Holmgren said.

If the first week of training camp was always the indication for how a team will produce during the regular season then the NFL would not be as interesting. It's better to get the rust gone during practice now, than during a game later. Hasselbeck will be fine. Alexander will be fine. The Seahawks will be fine.

...well, just as long as they keep feeding Alexander those scrumptions pieces of pie. :D

I dont see how some people are now not willing to draft the third best qb in the nfl because he has a ugly practice. Mike Holmgren prides himself on a good offense and you can be sure were gonna be the same offense we have always been. Maybe eve better this year. But I mean come on. Is the world still skeptic of Seattle that when hass has a bad day in "training camp" everyone loses faith? Wait until pre season at least to make somewhat of a judgement...

This is just media BS. Holmgren isn't going to air out his players like that. I didn't even know anything about the Jackson issue until Holmgren answered a few questions about it from his favorite personality, Mitch Levy. Sure DJack is on schedule now, to play by week 3 of the preseason, but this is a different schedule than Mike Holmgren had originally been given. The biggest failure here seemed to be in Jackson's communicating this schedule change with Holmgren, since Jackson was off in Florida doing his own thing and had very little contact with the team or it's coach. Holmgren expected him to be ready and he showed up clearly not. Holmgren was like confuse me more!??? For what it is worth, Holmgren seems to have accepted whatever reason Jackson gave for his condition, and it appears both sides are ready to move on......I just kind of threw that whole part of Holmgren's interview into the original thread as something that could possibly cause problems in the future behind the scenes, not something that would necessarily hinder play anytime soon. Personally I think DJack will be HUGE this season, with new WR's beside him. 90+ catches as he is clearly the go-to guy.

Wow, the old Seahag bandwagon sure seems to have filled up this year. I have been at the Huddle for years. And Seattle fans were as scarce as a Mexican at a Mensa convention. But after last year, they now seem to have some fans. Its weird how a good year will do that. But after their collapse this year, the bandwagoneers will scatter like the residents of the ninth ward after Katrina. Enjoy it while you can Bandwagon Boys...

I think the whole bandwagon Seattle thing has gone a little overboard. IMO, during our losing years of the 90's, the people that jumped off the wagon did so more because of Behring's moving trucks than anything else. You're right, there are a crapload of people talking about the Seahawks now at the water coolers that didn't know who Matt Hasselbeck was two years ago, which becomes quite annoying, but we've always had the hardcore, even if they were kind of boycotting going to the games.

No way. Indy and Cincy are definitely better. The Giants are getting pretty good as well. Also keep in mind that Seattle's offense gets to pad their numbers against the Cards, Niners, and Rams six times a year.

That said, they're definitely in the Top 5 and I don't see Hasselbeck regressing this year. With Hutch gone, SA won't rush for 1880 yds again and Hass will have to throw a little more. But he'll still be good for 3500 yds, 24-26 TDs, and 10-14 INTs.

when did Hass fall flat on his face?? Did I miss something?

actually...yeah going from 26 TD's to 22 TD's is actually a decent jump downwards...and throwing for 500 yds less when he did it in 2004 after his good 2003 performance....and then last year he threw 24 TD's...

I don't think DJax will be fine....I don't know how he started 16 games in 2004...I remember him being in crutches before one game and my brother benched him...then he miraculously plays and puts up the best game of the year...

I think he missed so many games last year due to him playing through being hurt badly the previous year...

I am steering clear of DJax...there is no JJ anymore either....he had to be accounted for because of his sure hands.......not to mention the fact that it seems like every team he's on goes to the superbowl (Giants, Bucs and Hawks)....

I will not draft Hasselbeck...his numbers are misleading, fantasy-wise and I think when everything is all said and done by the end of the season, Philip Rivers will have numbers near what Hasselbeck has.......

Burleson is overrated

DJax is injury prone

Engram is a very good #3 WR...but he'll be forced to play #2 and will struggle as he normally does..
