When LB Randy Gradishar started 10 years with the Broncos and averaged better per-game career stats in almost every significant statistical category than Ray Lewis, but still can't get into the HoF, that's a travesty & quite frankly a sick joke that tyhe voters apparently think is funny for some unfathomable reason.

Jim Marshall. Dude played, what, 19 years and never missed a game? And now a kicker breaks his record that will never be broken or even touched by any position player, ever. Let's talk about records that will never be broken by a non-kicker.

Homer vote for Sterling Sharpe. If you're going to put Gale Sayers in, you should put Sharpe in. Here's a comparison of their numbers:

Sayers

Same number of seasons. Sharpe had more yardage and more touchdowns.

Oh, and then there's this guy named Jerry Kramer. He was the state-of-the-art at OG for GB during their 60s dynasty - leading the Packer sweep and was the guy who Starr followed for their victory in te Ice Bowl vs DAL. He also played a good part of his career with a huge wooden splinter in him that he had from a childhood accident.

Dan Reeves - 200+ wins as HC, 5 SB appearances, and he doesn't make it? C'mon...

Karl Mecklenberg

Jeff Van Note - Iron Man center for some bad Atlanta teams

Henry Ellard - for my $ I'd have rather had him than Art Monk in the mid-80s to mid-90s

And a hearty second to Marshall and Sharpe.

Which dude on this list isn't in the Hall?

Hornung probably doesn't belong in the Hall - at best a two-year wonder whose rep FAR outstrips his accomplishments.

Anderson IMO was a journeyman whose main asset was longevity.

I think you can make an argument that Sayers, though a transcendent player, wasn't really dominant; he gets in due to highlight reel footage.

Art Monk for sure. Of course the reason I started watching football, DT!

"Pass rusher extraordinaire spent 11 glorious seasons in a Kansas City uniform … Served as the heart and soul of the Chiefs franchise during that span … Known simply as “D.T.” ... Was not only a bona fide star in terms of his contributions on the field, but also illuminated countless lives through his charitable efforts … Received the ‘93 NFL Man of the Year Award, the ‘95 Byron “Whizzer” White Award and was named former President George Bush’s “832nd Point of Light” ... On the field, was one of the most dominant defensive players of his day thanks to his patented sack-and-strip maneuver … Established Chiefs career records for sacks (126.5), safeties (3), fumble recoveries (18) and forced fumbles (45) ... His 126.5 sacks were the fourth-highest total ever by a linebacker at the time of his death … Produced a club-record 20.0 sacks in ‘90, included an NFL-record seven sacks in a single game … The only player in Chiefs history to see action in three different decades with his final contest coming on January 2, 2000 … Saw duty in 169 games (158) starts and owns a share of another franchise mark with 10 career playoff appearances … Won the Mack Lee Hill Award as a rookie in ‘89 … Produced nine consecutive Pro Bowl berths from ‘89-97, the most of any player in Chiefs history … Was the initial two-time winner (’91, 94) of the club’s MVP trophy which now bears his name … Born January 1, 1967 in Miami, Florida and died on February 8, 2000 in Miami, Florida following a serious auto accident on January 23, 2000 in Kansas City."

3 of them

Marshall is the only one of those 3 eligable for induction as of now for the 5-year rule.

Gary Andersen may or not make it. Very tough for a kicker to make the HOF. Btw, I'd prefer him to miss about 20 FGs during regular season if he could just make one more during the playoffs. :D

BJ, did you mean eligible? :D

Nothing but respect for Sterling here, but the "Sayers Precedent" doesn't really hold anymore. If it did, Terrell Davis and Priest Holmes would be enshrined.

Art Monk is a no-brainer. And I'm still puzzled why Dan Hampton is in, but Richard Dent isn't. Dent was a better player.

and NOT john madden.

Given what Madden accomplished as a coach and how much the popularity of the NFL soared because of his work as a broadcaster and the popularity of his video game, they'd be stupid to NOT induct him.

Yeah, but I would like to see them in(TD and Holmes). Dominance over several years means more to me than longevity.
