Puddy Posted August 6, 2006 Share Posted August 6, 2006 Thanks to Skins introducing me to Duvel, I decided to try another Belgian Ale at dinner this evening. Had two Delirium Tremens. Big thumbs up but very expensive ($9 each for an 11.2 oz bottle) at the restaurant. Decided to pick up some beer on the way home. Went with the Duvel ($10.99 for a 4-pack), much more than I'm used to spending on beer. About $8 a sixer and very tasty and close to some of the whites I've drank from Belgium. Azazello1313 Posted August 9, 2006 Share Posted August 9, 2006 the st. bernardus trippel is probably my favorite trappist belgian (orval is awesome as well, and several others). duvel is probably my favorite non-trappist belgian. and ommegang is my favorite american "belgian" (just about everything from this brewery is top-notch). I like hennipen, but I'm more of a fan of the farmhouse/tripels than I am of the darker doubles and quads. Saison DuPont is another very good belgian, Chouffe Houblon makes a good tripel too. My understanding is that it is not bottled, only available in restaurants. It is outstanding. Another good one I discovered was Victory Golden Monkey. It's actually brewed in pennsylvania.
