Stingers
-- Cowboys Move Carpenter to ILB -- Mon Aug 7, 2006 The Star Telegram reports the Dallas Cowboys have moved first round draft pick OLB Bobby Carpenter from outside to inside linebacker. Because the Cowboys are pleased with DE Greg Ellis' switch to outside linebacker, they decided to move Carpenter to the backup weakside inside linebacker position behind starting ILB Akin Ayodele. The move is fine with the Ohio State rookie, who said that, heading into the draft, most 3-4 teams pegged him as a weakside inside linebacker. The Cowboys drafted him with the intention of playing him at strongside outside linebacker because that's where they had a need. With Ellis, OLB Al Singleton and OLB Rocky Boiman there now, the need is not as great as it once was. Well this is interesting information. Carpenter's value is going up! And maybe Ayodele's will be dropping. Carpenter would have been limited as an OLB but if he can beat out Ayodele......or Bradie James..... Swiss Cheezhead
Yeah, with only Ayodele ahead of him, I bet Carpenter will be a starter within the first few weeks of the season.
Los Gigantes
have you seen ayodele play much? he's a good player, and should do well as an ILB.
General Itals
Yeah, Ayodele has been making noise in camp. Singleton and Shanle have become expendable in Dallas, not that they had much IDP value to begin with.
Swiss Cheezhead
have you seen ayodele play much? he's a good player, and should do well as an ILB. Sure -- I know Ayodele is a good player. I think Bradie James is a good player, too, but I also believe that coaches like to get their 1st-round picks on the field ASAP.
