msaint
we have two 2-owner teams who want to split up, which is great because i HATE HATE HATE co-owned teams, but if we gave them their own franchises it would expand our league from 12-teams (which i think is ideal) to 14 (which my gut says isn't ideal, as it thins out the talent too much). so, anyone who plays in a league with 14 (or any # more than 12 teams): what do you like about it? what don't you like? what are the weekly roster requirements, etc? how do the playoffs work? etc. I threw the idea of moving to a 16-team league with two 8-team divisions, an NFC/AFC kind of thing, but no one was digging it. thanks. There is no need to change anything about the league except having 14 teams instead of 12. It is much more challenging. The con is that it's harder, but the pro is that it really benefits people that prepare well and strategize well. I don't see the need to change the rest of the format, but then again you haven't provided the rest of the format
Hugh 0ne
I've done 14 team leagues, and 32 team leagues. The more the better imo, because it makes it much more diificult and challenging. Any moran can have a good team in 10 team leagues.
Big John
A 14-team league will have some holes in some rosters so teams will have to work harder. Also depends with the roster requirements, as you might want to consider starting 1 RB, then can start another RB with a flex spot. A 5-5-4 divioional line seems to work good, with 3 divisional winners and 3 wildcards making the playoffs. A schedule is a bit harder to make up, bur 2 divisional games per each team, with 1 game against some (but not all) non-division teams works. The Irish Doggy
I think 14 team leagues are ideal for flex lineups, but otherwise agree with CN above. That would be a very interesting auction too.
Bronco Billy
I love 14 team leagues. Unless some of the owners are really poor, every team ought to have a weakness - which encourages active owners & keeps player movement hopping all season. 12 teams leagues are about as low as I normally like to play in, since 10 team & lower leagues usually have rosters where owners tend to stand pat since they have good to great players at every position, which makes for a season that is comprised by perusing the WW & submitting a lineup every week. I did play in a 24 team league, which was extremely challenging, since the talent was spread so thin. The biggest problem with that league is that the cream rose to the top very quickly & about 1/3rd of the owners lost interest after week 3/4 when they saw that they were not going to be competitive. 14 teams is about the ideal number, IMO. If you go 2 divisions (7-7), and keeping 6 playoff teams (assume wk 16 super bowl and divison winners with 1st round bye week 14) you can have everyone play in division twice, and other division once, but it requires every non bye-week to be a double header. Hugh 0ne
Can you post the results? I would love to check that out. Well, it's a unique league, that's homer based. Each team represents an NFL franchise, and they get that teams PK, DEF, and they get to keep 1 "homer stud" from that team. So before the draft even starts, 32 players are off the board. Starting requirements mimmick the NFL: 1QB, 1RB, 2WR's, 1TE, PK and DEF. If you want, you can follow along here: http://football29.myfantasyleague.com/2006...ns?L=16407&O=17 (note that each team already had the defense, kicker, and one "homer keeper" on his roster before the draft began--which is why SF took the Bengals QB with his first pick) rosters are here: http://football29.myfantasyleague.com/2006...s?L=16407&O=

msaint
You can't be serious. i know, it's a tad askew, but i've seen many leagues with this and they seem to like it. personally, i like.. 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE....no QB) TE K D/ST

Why not go QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, PK, DST. That third WR requirement makes people think more about what WRs they draft early and helps to fend off RB whores.
