Jags Demote WR Williams

After searching for and reading the article I still don't interpret much finality or clairty on the situation.

"It doesn't mean a thing. It doesn't mean anything now. It matters in September. We're going to continue to rotate guys,'' he (Del Rio) said."It doesn't mean a thing. It doesn't mean anything now. It matters in September. We're going to continue to rotate guys,'' he said.

The Jaguars listed Wilford as the starter in their unofficial depth chart for the Miami preseason opener Saturday night, but Del Rio said he let Dan Edwards, the vice president of communications and media, put that together.

:D

Wilford is the best WR they've got. The only reason that Williams continues to get so many chances to be a starting receiver is that they don't want to admit he's a bust, and they reached for him at that.

Everything I've read indicates that they like the matchup problems Wilford creates from the slot. Obviously, nothing is set in stone, but I still wouldn't be surprised if they left Williams and Jones as the starters throughout the season.

That said, they target Wilford in the red zone enough that I wouldn't be surprised if he equaled Williams' numbers, even as the 3rd WR.

I understand what you are saying about match-ups. But Williams is big too, and would equally cause match-up problems from the slot.

I strongly believe that the Jags coaches will play their best players when the games start counting. They are going to give Williams every chance to be a starter in the pre-season. But Wilford will be the guy in the regular season.l

If they dont the coaching staff need to be fired. Williams really SUCK. And Wilford show lots of potential. Draft status really kills me when I see guys like him get passed over aka priest holmes in Ravens camp. Let and became better than J. Lewis.

Del Rio has not impressed me so far with his intelligence/game-planning. He seems to be more of a rah-rah guy than an X's and O's. Not real high on his staff either. But their jobs will be riding on wins and losses. Wilford is their best option. I don't think he's a stud, but he's the best they've got right now.
