Tedy Bruschi - LB, New England Patriots 08/09/06

Updating previous reports, Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi has a broken wrist and will be cleared to play no earlier than in the team's Sept. 10 regular-season opener against Buffalo. Bruschi injured his wrist in practice on August 1, but the severity of the injury was not made public at the time.

Huddle Up: Bruschi missed the first six games of the 2005 season after suffering a mild stroke only 10 days following the Patriots' Super Bowl win against the Eagles in February. However, he bounced back to produce a fine second half for the Pats and fantasy owners alike. IDP league players should be sure to know his status when draft day arrives, but Bruschi has proven before that he is a difficult player to keep down for long.

The original prognosis was that he was only going to miss a couple of weeks. This is a new development.

I expect this to happen every year now... you can't have a Bruschi comeback story without some obstacle to overcome. And obviously the only thing that could possibly be an obstacle to Bruschi is Bruschi.

So very true.

Inside sources at the Pats training camp indicated that Bruschi's break was a compound fracture, but he snapped it back in place on the field, and used one of his shoulder pad to create a splint. Bruschi wanted to continue playing but another player overheard Belichick tell him that they didn't want to reveal his secret superpower healing ability to the press, so he should sit out for a few days!!

:D:D
