TheGrunt
Let's assume Curtis Martin retires (or sits out for half the season), is there any potential in either Derrick Blaylock or Cedric Houston to step up? I know they both have an upside to them, but which upside shows a brighter future?
Hat Trick
I wouldn't want either on any of my teams. That team is headed nowhere for awile IMO, and neither of those guys are the RB of the future and the present is BAD. That's my

Well, maybe they are, but everyone knows they wont go. So, that said, do they stick with what they have and go for A Peterson in the draft next year? I know its early, but isnt he the top RB in college going in to the season?

Personally I would LOVE to be no.1 and get A. Peterson or N. Dames QB. That would do wonders for this team. More so Petersons

Haha, thanks for the props, Scoob! I saw this thread and thought, he we go, yet another long winded post! That link covers my thoughts. In any case, for anyone drafting this weekend, don't touch any Jets RB unless it's RB#5. Way too risky, and a very fluid situation. They may yet trade for an RB as well. I picked up Blaylock as my #5 RB, so I'm not really banking off him becoming 'the guy' in NY, but if he does I've got him.

piratesownninjas
Houston is more durable than Blaylock, who has twice gone down to injuries in two years... FOrgive me if im wrong, but wasnt Houston supposed to be an early round draft pick, but ran slow at the combine, only to later find out it was a thyroid problem that has since been treated? If im right on these, wouldnt Houston be the intelligent choice?

I think its the best idea to go for adrian peterson in next years draft, I would take him over Brady Quinn if i were the jets but it dosnt really matter who the jets draft because the fans always boo the pick anyways. If they trade for chris brown which is also a possibility then I could see them giving Chad limp noodle Pennington the boot unless he has a strong comeback this year. Which i doubt will happen. I guess you didn't watch the NFL draft this year. Both the Ferguson and Mangold picks were cheered. I guess you think that taking a place kicker the year before as the first player drafted should have been cheered? As for Pennington, his arm has never looked stronger.... he's making all the throws. The real question is whether or not he can take a hit. As for Chrissy Brown, no thank you. Not another guy with a chronic turf toe injury. I take it you also think the Jets are automatic for the first draft pick next year? You sure got an awful lot of stuff wrong for one little post. Yeah they did cheer mangold and ferguson but arent they the same fans that booed Abraham and Ellis? Howd they turn out? Hmmm, and i was just making a general statement. And if pennengtons arm is so strong then why is he batteling Brooks Bollinger and Patrick Ramsey for the starting job? Chill out pal. Who said the anything about the Jets picking #1? They'll probably land around #2-#

If you knew anything at all about the Jets, you would know that there is no QB battle. Pennington is the starter. BTW, YOU siad they should just wait and take Adrian Peterson.... that means they pick at 1 or 2. Are you confused? Or do you have a memory lapse problem? I posted something about the Jets picking first, but I didnt say they WOULD pick 1st. I think thats kind of crazy to say what team will finish last this early in the year. I was asking if the Jets would target Peterson, so maybe thats where big ben roth was coming from. And no, Im not defending him...
Balzac
I personally think Houston is lightyears better than Blaylock. Cedric was solid enough last year and, if what Rovers reports is correct w/r/t the shape he's in this year (I haven't had the chance to make it up to camp yet this year), he could be more than adequate - definitely a solid RB3 if he gets the call to start. Rovers
The Jets could still get Peterson, but they might have to trade up to do it. I figure it's a sure bet they are in the top ten, but then have 2 seconder rounders to deal if they want to move up. I think that's the more likely scenario. Ohhh you were being sarcastic I get it. The Jets WILL finish at the bottom of their division and I know they wont finish last in the NFL but they will be picking in the top 10 in next years draft. And where do you get that peterson is guaranteed to go #1 or #2? Because i dont remeber saying that he DEF would.

When it comes to the Jets... yeah, I do know more than "just about" anyone that isn't connected to the team. Like Hook knows more than just about anyone when it comes to the Colts. Stick around newb... read, and learn.
