NinersIn2006!
16/21 with 137 yards....guided two scoring drives...I'M LIKING IT, I'M REALLY LIKING IT....just saw the highlights and he looked GOOD... I know, I know, dont get too ahead of myself, its preseason, but the best defense last year had to have been on the field for at least part of that... Maybe all the work in the offseason is paying off! Keep working Alex, Keep working....some of us believe in you!!

NinersIn2006!
And Frank Gore I'm not as surprised about Frank Gore....he had a couple of good games to end the year last year (I picked him up as a sleeper when Edge wasnt playing the last couple of games).... He showed alot of promise last year, and I dont see any way he is not the starter (nice knowing you Kevan Barlow!!) But I am fired up about him as well! Edited August 12, 2006 by NinersIn2006! CaGamblers
Poised and confident - A. Smith is the future - What a difference a year makes even though it's preseason
Bier Meister
i was very impressed with the offense's progress. they moved the ball well, smith made better decisions than last year.... this was the bears. norv should be good for the rb and te... wr's should have a ceiling on them. the 9ers really surprised me. they weren't the "pathetic 9ers" i was expecting. Jimmy Neutron
I have to belive last year was just deer in the headlights syndrome for Alex Smith. I think he'll come around if given the opportunity. He was a man among boys at Utah.

blips
Being a Bears fan I will have to say that the Bear's D was only playing a vanilla D. No blitzes or stunts and probably playing just base coverage. It is preseason but Alex did look good. I think the reason I was so impressed was that I expected nothing from him. So I came away impressed. There might be hope for the 49ers. Good job Alex. Now to bump the 49er players up a notch on my cheat sheet. LooGie
I would've liked to see him get a TD pass...he probably lacks confidence in himself because it was so hard for him to get a TD pass last season.
TheGrunt
I'm starting to get all flustered and excited thinking about the niners being an up and coming team. I still feel like they are another year or two away from truly breaking out of their shell (ever since Jerry Rice, then T.O. left the team). I hate pre-season; I feel like I'm on an emotional roller-coaster, looking for the new up-and-coming players/teams, while also fearing similar results of the last couple years. When will my team be good again? Will the Lions finally take the next step into the world of elite teams? Will the Niners finally go .500 in their win/loss ration for the season? How much will the Seahawks win by during the 2007 SuperBowl?
