Droobie42
http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwthreads/...=0&fpart=2&vc=1 The UT scoreboard will be the world's largest big-screen TV — a 1,740- incher — and is the central part of an $8 million sound and video upgrade at Royal Memorial Stadium. Scroll down and there's some good pics on here...what a monster. The good news is that they're renovating the 30 year old sound system too so the speakers don't crackle as you try to see what play happened from the other side, can't wait til the 2nd!!!! The playing field is 160 feet wide = 53 yards. That's a grossly large TV. Edited August 15, 2006 by Gonkis

You too used to your ghetto barn stadium constructed in the 30's to understand how things should look these days, in 2006.

Can't argue that. It's because it was built to house about 100,000 to watch the Olympics - football was an afterthought. Trivia - besides the Rams and Raiders, this is also where the Dodgers played before the crib in Chavez Ravine was complete. The city has gotten its mileage out of this old place and then some - it needs to come down....

You're right" the biggest problem is the same one the OLD Soldier Field (pre-60's) and it's that extended track at one end zone that has the seats starting 30+ yards behind the back of the end zone, which means if you're at the top of that area you're what, 70-80 yards from tha BACK of the endzone, meaning it's a 1 wood to the other goalline. That being said, I've been to a few ND/USC games and no place bumps like that when it's filled to capacity.
