AUFan
This will be the first keeper league i play in. The already established rules of the league are owners can keep a player they drafted round 5 or later. I am the only new player to the league and they are trying to figure out a fair way for me to get an extra player since they will all have keepers. The idea floating around is that i get an extra 5th rd pick, which i think is unfair. I'm not sure who all the keepers are but i know one of them is Ronnie Brown and another would have been LJ except for a trade that voided his keeper eligibility. So my question is: do any of you have any experience with a new player joining a keeper league and what do you think is a fair way to bring in a new player? I was thinking i could either pick any player from their last draft that went after round 5 that wasn't kept or at least get an extra 3rd or 4th rd pick. Thoughts? They should have you pick your keepers first before the draft starts. Each times protects their keepers and whoever they have not tagged as a keeper should be available to you before the draft begins. good luck on your keeper leauge!!!!!!! 'canes2004
Since your new to the league, are you taking over someone's elses team? If so, you should have a choice of that teams final roster from the '05 season. If they are just adding you to the league, you should have your choice of any player who was taking on or after the 5th round from last year since they would fall into the criteria your league is looking for. My question exactly. We had the same situation this season and the new owner inherited the final roster from the previous owner. That's the only fair way to do it, IMHO. If the league is expanding (say from 10 to 12 teams), then the others either should not keep and all players are open to draft, or you should be able to select a player from the remaining pool, prior to the draft as your keeper. Someone dropped out of the league and i am taking their place. I guess i would settle for taking over the previous players team but i might as well angle for getting my pick from the remaining pool. thanks for the suggestions! I see them giving you the option of either. If they don't, f'em. An extra 5th Round pick would have me walking as fast as I can away from that League. Furd
I believe that the common practice is that you inherit the team of the guy that you are replacing.
