Quotes from camp: FB William Henderson on Green: "Looking at him today, in just shorts and shoulder pads — you want to say everybody can look good in shorts and shoulder pads — but the guy was damn near phenomenal," Henderson said. "The way he hit the gaps, the way he hit the seams, he acts like he's been practicing this thing every day and getting into a rhythm ever since training camp started. "(Green's) momentum is always pushing forward," Henderson said. "He's making the right cuts. He's reading it very well. The goal for us is 4 yards a pop. I don't see people stopping him for less than 4 yards a pop." RB Samkon Gado on Green: "He looked ridiculously good. It's good to have him back," Gado said. "As a young running back, that's what it's supposed to look like. That's what this cut is supposed to be, that's how you're supposed to carry the ball, that's how you're supposed to make this block, so it was good having him out there. HC Mike McCarthy on Green: "I think he looks great," McCarthy said. "I think the level of practice goes up when you put a player of his magnitude in there. We're going to practice him once a day this week and assess how he does and look at next week probably doing a little more." OC Jeff Jagodzinski on Green brings to the table that's been missing: "It's not that we don't have a guy, but (Green) is a natural," Jagodzinski said. "He saw (the cut) and he saw it fast. "But I'm just going to wait my time, wait my time," Green said after practice Wednesday, his second straight in-pads, full workout. Green, who hasn't played in a game since rupturing the quadriceps tendon in his right leg last Oct. 23 at Minnesota, said he expects to make his debut Aug. 28 at Cincinnati. Najeh Davenport is expected to start against the Falcons. Asked how he feels his return to full-time duty has gone this week, Green replied, "It's gone great. It's gone as expected. I've gotten a little tired here and there, but I've still worked through it. It's getting the endurance and new movement down in pads. That's all I'm trying to get - just get through practice and getting used to getting hit again, hitting the hole and picking up the blitz, catching the ball and getting hit. Things I'm used to doing as a running back." Offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski said Green hasn't had any setbacks and is so advanced in his comeback because of his work ethic. "Ahman looks really good. He looks as powerful and smooth as I've ever seen him," said Jagodzinski, the Packers' tight ends coach from 1999 through 2003, when Green rushed for a franchise single-season record 1,883 yards. I not only expect Ahman to be the first NFL RB to ever recover 100% from a torn quad tendon, I see a 110% recovery for him. I think the Packers O'line will be tremendous this year with the two rookies. They're the raw clay that Jagodzinski can take and mold into the type of linemen he wants, for his superb zone blocking scheme. This year we will see a return to glory for the Packers O'line. I expect Jagodzinski to turn this unit into a better and more fearsome run blocking O'line than the one he developed in Atlanta...which just so happened to pave the way for the NFL's #1 ranked rushing Offense two years in a row. Favre did not wrestle with his retirement decision as long as he did, only to be satisfied with doing the best they can. The man is a WINNER!! Favre still has more talent in his left pinky than half of todays starting QB's. We will see Favre help carry the Packers back to their rightful place amongst the NFL's elite teams. The defense, with the additions of Hawk & Hodge, will stonewall the pathetic offense of the Bears. They will send Brad "I got no" Johnson into retirement and that will be the end of the K-Robless, boat partying, ViQueens. Mad Mike Martz will single handedly wreck an already abused Lions team. The Packers will beat them while on their bye, like a red headed step child, out behind the woodshed. Then the Packers Defense will continue their terrifying rampage on the rest of the NFL. While Dedicated Donald provides the ultimate dependable WR for Favre, Jennings will wage Jihad on any and all CB's throughout the hapless defenses of the NFL. All in all, I see Ahman Green as being THE integral piece of the Packers offense. He will be the turbo nitrous booster, that propels the Packers offense to new heights, far exceeding his numbers form his previous career year of 2003. Ahman Green baby. You've got to take the bull by the horns my friend. I have had Green for a couple of years in Fusion as my #1 RB. I am sure, from the above statement, that one can tell I have not done well. Am thinking of cutting him this year as I got him back in RFA since no one would bid on him and he has open contract status..... but dang.... tough to assign him a contract when he doesn't play.
