Hey...can the powers that be, or the ghost of Carl, build a forum that all the newbies can be taken to on their 'induction day', er, or something like that...let them fill out all the paperwork in there and then maybe Cliaz, Blitz or Puddy can verbally beat the crap out of them for about a hour or two?...that way we can just get it all said, done, and over with in one fell swoop...and the rest of us would know where to pull up the chair to :D

And then after that, if they still want to stay...that'd be okay :D

When I joined in 03, I was blasted for my thoughts and opinions, but it is a "forum" hence open to criticism etc. It really seems that todays noobs are very or overly sensitive, they want to be accepted and respected right off the bat...just because they play FF. It just does not work that way around here-period, never has and most likely never will. To all newcomers who read this-"You have to earn respect here-Period" I did and so should everyone else, it's really not that hard-drop knowledge and don't get upset if your called out, because you will be around here.

But Oprah and Dr. Phil told them they shouldn't have to go through all that any more. :D

It's simple. You gotta stand up to the hazing if you want to hang with the best. We gotta know what your made of. Some folks like Blitz do a really good job at thinning the herd before I have to deal with them.

best thing you can do is just read, and not post, for at least 3 months. once you get a feel for how things go, then it is much easier to step in.

the other recommendations would be to <a> not go personal and <b> try not to sound like an all-knowing authority.

on <a>, keep in mind that nobody here knows you at first and that everybody f's up. so when you post some moranic bull or if someone takes you to task, don't get your panties in a bunch and start firing with all your guns. read what they are saying and come back with your take, staying on topic. if they get too personal and it seems like they just want to rile you up, just drop out and go to another thread. it's not worth it.

on <b>, i've learned to try and share things as my opinion vs. coming on like i have all the facts. nobody has all the facts and i guarantee you, if you leave a shred of inaccuracy in a post, someone will find it and call you on it. that is actually what makes the site cool, because if the data can survive this place, it must be good.

and, yeah, if none of that works, puddy can just kick the crap outta you. thinks he's a tough guy ...
