jjpro11
why do i keep hearing about the cowboys qb situation? i saw this article on PFT the other day and called bullcandied yams on it. now they are talking about it on tv about whos starting monday.. is this just a preseason thing or do they actually have a qb controversy? i would like to know because i had bledsoe ranked pretty high this year. POSTED 8:30 a.m. EDT, August 14, 2006 ROMO BOUNCING BLEDSOE? In the wake of the unusual decision of Cowboys coach Bill Parcells to use quarterback Tony Romo for the entire preseason game on Saturday night at Seattle, the league is buzzing with positive comments regarding the fourth-year signal-caller from Eastern Illinois. Some are saying that Romo reminds them of a young Brett Favre. The players in Dallas, we're told, love Romo, who is far more mobile than starter Drew Bledsoe. One scout has predicted that Bledsoe will be on a short leash this year, and that if/when Bledsoe struggles Romo will get the job and Bledsoe will be done. A little fantasy advice? Grab this guy with a late-round pick, just in case.
DMD
I would strongly believe that Romo is getting a chance to take over the #3 spot from Henson and be ready if he is needed. I live in Dallas and Parcells is not looking to replace a Superbowl/pro Bowl quarterback with anyone.
Seahawks21
There is definitely something there. You can just tell in the way Parcells speaks about Romo and Bledsoe. Quarterback controversy? Hardly. However, if Bledsoe struggles, his leash just got a lot shorter. Also, if this team somehow fails to be in the playoff mix, I think Parcells is kind of planning to groom Romo if he gets the chance, to take with him into next season. Grits and Shins
This QB "controversy" is wholly generated by the media ... it is what the media does, stir things up. The Dallas media hates Bill because he is not as chummy with them as past coaches and the media feels like they have the right to be inside all things Cowboy. So the media here in Dallas has nothing better to do than talk about nothing.
broncosn05
Get out of here with this bull. Do you believe everything you read?
piratesownninjas
Bledsoe is a Parcells guy. Thats all I need to say.
YoungBob
I would strongly believe that Romo is getting a chance to take over the #3 spot from Henson and be ready if he is needed. Agreed. An article in today's Chicago Tribune (Romo played his college ball at Eastern Illinois) said this is nothing more than Parcells getting a better feel for Romo and seeing what the kid can do. rattsass
This may all be just a bunch of bull. But FWIW I just heard Chris Mortenson on ESPN radio talking about how he thought Parcells might be OK with the TO stuff taking all the attention because the bigger story of a possible QB controversy is being overlooked. It seems unlikely to me that Parcells would make a move like that, but since I have already drafted Bledsoe on one of my teams it certainly wouldn't surprise me! Perchoutofwater
I think Bill knows that the team has a good chance of making the playoffs, and knows that Bledsoe is not as mobile as he used to be and takes a lot of hits. I think Bill is trying to see if Romo has what it takes to lead the team successfully should Bledsoe go down to injury, or if he needs to bring in a veteran back up (K. Collins). There is some talk that Romo may be the future, but I'm not buying that, at least at this point.
