Ron Burgundy
I see Ahman is falling anywhere from the 6th to 8th rounds, Gado is all over the place roundwise and Davenport is generally not being drafted. My initial thought is to take a flyer on Davenport in the last round of my draft. I have not seen any of the games so far, so I have no idea who's playing with the 1st team and/or who's playing well. Anybody have any insight into the GB RB situation? Besides stay away from them, that is.

Put the names in a hat, and grab one. I dont think anyone has any idea, and I honestly think itll be more a RBBC if anything. I just cant see Green playing the full year, Davenport staying healthy, and Gado, well, I like Gado, but he might only get the chance if the 1st 2 get hurt... AGAIN. piratesownninjas
Its an absolute mess... Green is coming back from a blown quad, but he has resumed practicing in pads... This is important because neither of the two backs have done anything to seperate themselves from the crowd. Gado has had trouble comprehending the new scheme, and missed last nights game due to injury. Poops ran the ball 11 times last night and didnt get anywhere near 30 yards. Mike McCarthy has also mentioned that he might use him at fullback... Also take not that William Henderson went down with a knee injury. Read into that what you may. I think Green has the highest floor and the lowest ceiling as to what he can do... I think Gado has the highest ceiling and Davenport has the lowest floor, as I can see him doing nothing other than being an incredible special teams player. The Waterboy
Maybe I'm just crazy, but I feel like Ahman Green is being ranked too low. Huddle has him down in Fred Taylor and Cedric Houston-land. Behind DeAngelo Williams, Corey Dillon, DeShaun Foster. Ahman is still only 29 and just two years away from a 1000 yard season. Sportsline talks about "two seasons of poor production" but in 2004 we went for 1183 on the ground, 275 in the air, and 8 TDs. That sounds ok to me. To me he's a number 2 running back on your squad. You can grab Gado in later rounds, too if you want to be safe.
Chavez
If I had to bet - which I wouldn't want to - I'd lean towards Gado as the eventual man, the staff LOVES him. His issues with the new scheme are less "not grasping" and more "overthinking". That said, Davenport didn't show that awful much last night in their absence; and until I see Green in a game situation, I would be very leery of taking a big chance on him - though he reportedly has looked very good in practice so far. About the only development last night is I think Arliss Beach played himself onto the team and Vonta Leach played himself off of it. Just projecting, right now I'd lean toward the GB depth chart at RB as Green, Gado, Beach with Herron backing up Henderson at FB.

This has been debated quite a few times already, but i'll get into it for a little bit... Green went from being an elite back in 03 to being a good one in 04. The second half of the 04 season he started to show a lot of signs that the tires were ready to come off. A hugh cause of concern. People are only talking about how he's coming back from an injury and forget that he was playing absolutley putrid last year. As a packer fan that was watching the debacle, I can tell you that he had zero burst, and just didnt look like he had it. Remember, this is before the injury. In another post, which im sure Big John will find for us there was a discussion about Green's injury, and how many players have came back from it. Who comes back from a blown quad? No one. He's not being ranked to low, but way too high.

PackerFanX
In my 12 team league that drafted yesterday where 36 running backs are drafted nobody took a Green Bay running back.

Wish I could find that original post by Big John (if it's the post I'm thinking about that had a lengthy list of players who had supposedly suffered the same or similar thigh-tendon injuries and had never returned). Crazysight
I thought about doing that one msaint but have given up on it due to lack of financial backing to obtain that heavily sought-after domain name. Instead I think I'm going to go with SpacesarentallowedinURLs.com. Edited September 11, 2006 by Crazysight

piratesownninjas
Its funny that you're trying to rub it in... Im a GREEN BAY PACKER FAN. I liked seeing him perform well. Just remember that there are 15 more games left on there schedule. 1 game does not equal a season.
Crazysight
Fixed your post and found the one you wanted Crazysight. Yes that is the one. And yes, despite the apparent failures of all those others who sustained such an injury, Ahman looks to be the first ever to make a full-return. As ninja pointed out though the season is young. I will continue to remain cautiously optimistic about him and look forward to the Green Bay-New Orleans matchup next week.
