Packers Reloaded
Aug 20 Tom Kowalski, writing for the Sporting News, reports Detroit Lions RB Kevin Jones could explode in offensive coordinator Mike Martz's offense. Unlike previous years, Jones won't be taken off the field on third down and will be much more productive in the passing game. He'll get 25-plus touches per game and Martz has said the Lions will go as far as Jones can carry them. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6789/news What are your thoughts on this? peepinmofo
This might be HIS year, but it isnt MY year to take a chance on him. Id rather be burned by him doing well and me not having him, then him doing terrible and me having him. Im staying away.

Doc Holliday
pssst.... B.r.i.a.n. C.a.l.h.o.u.n. I thought Calhoun would give harris a tougher run for the backup job myself....looks like it is Harris as the number 1 backup. I handcuffed myself in a couple leagues with Calhoun. I may have made a mistake.
Bronco Billy
6 rushes for 7 yds this weekend ought to bring K Jones owners back to Earth. Yeah, it's only preseason, but 1.2 ypc in 6 carries against the OAK run D? C'mon.

It'll take him a while to get bulked up enough to contribute anything but as a passing option. Realistically I think Detroit will just have to suffer through another season of Kevin Jones as long as he doesn't get hurt.
whitem0nkey
I would rather take, Chester Taylor, Julius Jones, Willie Parker, Frank Gore & Mike Bell before i think about jones. and that’s cause i got burned from the Detroit hype machine before. Grits and Shins
From what I saw of the Detroit offense in their preseason game the other night I'd say be careful on Detroit players.

I have never been the biggest Kevin Jones fan. he gets taken down by the 1st tackler way to often and is constantly late at hitting the open hole. As a Lion fan I don't think it matters if he is in the lineup or not. I think Harris could do as well or better. Now as a Kevin Jones owner I want him to stay healthy and do well. Doc Holliday
25+ touches per game? When I see it I'll believe it. 25 touches is not out of reach. 21 carries and 4 catches. The problem is we are gonna have to be in the lead for him to get those touches.

CD6405
Ohhhh No Kevin Jones, you will not fool me again this year! Trick another league member! On that note though, he was awesome on Madden 06.

Avernus
on a side note...I'd like to add that KJ's running skills don't seem to be any better than last year so far.. however...I like the fact they want to throw to him more and the only WR options that are a serious threat are Pollard and Roy... Yeah, it's only preseason, but 1.2 ypc in 6 carries against the OAK run D? C'mon. Umm, they played Cleveland not Oakland. Not that that changes the point much but you must have not followed the action too close if you got the opponent wrong. KJ did not look great this past week. He still trying to go outside when he should be cutting back and finding the holes. He cannot beat corners and OLB's to the outside with regular consistancy; he has to turn up the field and get north and south yards, use his power game. He did look good catching the one TD. Not much of a route but executed nicely.

Yeah, it's only preseason, but 1.2 ypc in 6 carries against the OAK run D? C'mon. Yup! Granted it's hard to tell this early, but I think he looks pretty mediocre so far this preseason. irish
From what I saw of the Detroit offense in their preseason game the other night I'd say be careful on Detroit players. Thanks Grits for more of your stupid input. I like K Jones alot this year and hope he falls to me in the 3rd-4th round. I'll take Whichever of the Big 3 that falls to me at the 3rd pick, come back with probably an elite WR or if a very good RB falls to me like Mcgahee, then take K jones. Martz won't use Pollard like he has been used in the past. as a matter of fact he is not even the starting TE. Fitzsimmons was the starter..he got hurt and they moved McHugh to the number 1 TE. in Martz's offense the TE's do more blocking than anything. I expect Corey Bradford to have a strong year.
