In This Day & Age, there can be no stupid draft picks

I was developing a theory that today, unlike even 5 years ago, drafts would become boring, lock-step affairs. As the fantasy football world has expanded and the internet has become a common tool of everyman, I thought nobody could make a bonehead pick -- at least in the first couple of rounds. Then my son-in-law reported that Brian Westbrook was taken 3rd in a ten team league he is in. Then Mort takes Reggie Bush in the first round on national television. So much for my theory. :D

At least Mort said he did it because of return yards. I hope he's in a league that allows them and isn't just making this up. :D

There is something to that.

My local leagues used to be chock full of dumbasses, with competition among 3 to 4 owners. Some owners drafted terribly.

They've gotten much better at drafting in the last couple years, undoubtedly using cheatsheets.

A drop-off still occurs with week-to-week management. But again, they do better because of articles like Free Agent Forecast.
