Help..Yahoo standard scoring advise

A new league I have joined is using the default/standard Yahoo scoring system. 6 points per TD by anybody, -2 yards for interceptions, 1 pt per 50 yards passing, 1 pt per 20 yards rushing, 1 pt per 20 yards recieving with 5 pt bonus for 300 yds passing and 100 yds rushing or recieving. What position is most valued here? I'm guessing QB but not really sure? Any expert advise out there? Thanks in advance, and I look forward to participating in what seems like a really cool board. :D

QBs will almost always put up the most points, but that doesn't mean they are the best value.

RBs are almost always of premium value because the top performing RBs vastly outscore the rest. It's a steeper curve from the top to bottom than the other positions.

Good luck and enjoy the boards.

Good luck and enjoy the boards. Thanks Jimmy. Does this scoring system benefit QB's or not?

Go to your yahoo league. Go to players. Sort by projected 2006 stats. Then sort the results by actual projected points (typical auto sort is by their rankings). Then you can create a diagram which shows how many players at each position score at each point level ... It will show you, using your league's own scoring system, how folks are projected and more importantly, how positions relate to other positions, and how big the difference is between the top 2-3 at each position and the bubble of players just below them.

Those insights will help you figure out which position is most important to draft early and where you need depth. Just because QBs score the most, you still might not want to pounce early, as there might be more depth there than in other positions ... In one of my leagues, DEF is scored in a way that they rank right behind RB/QB in scoring, well ahead of WR, and that the top scorers are significantly ahead of the middle of the pack ... sooo, I went DEF a bit earlier than typical there to lock up a top choice. Yep, they have better WR3s who will score 1 point per game more than my guy over the course of the year, but I have the top DEF which will score 2.5 more points per game than theirs ...

Thank you very much!
