PantherDave Posted August 25, 2006 Share Posted August 25, 2006 (edited) Jake was a little off last night, as he threw to high or to long on several 3rd down attempts (4 at the very least) where the WR was open and had the 1st, if Jake puts it where it's suppose to be, and he also missed..I believe Colbert on a sideline go route that had the DB beat and Jake threw it to long-it was an easy six if the balls is there(he knew it do-started cussing at himself). He seemed jacked up last night and had good zip, but just was a little off with the throws-no biggie, just an observation. Well damn-my 4,000 post...thank you..thank you. He just seems to kick it to another level at the last minute when it's "now or never" ie: superbowl '03 2nd half 04 season, winning 7 straight. and always in the 4th quarter...but alot of times it's just too little to late... He sure is passionate though. i love to watch him get fired up... and I can't WAIT for the first Keyshawn/Jake throw down on the sidelines. Jake has always been off and on but he seems to always put up decent numbers. The panthers could go all the way this year its all up to how far Delhomme takes them or if my Hawks can stop them. This year the Seahawks and Panthers are clearly the dominant teams in the NFC esspecially what each team did in the off season. How do you not understand? Morgan was a little dinged up from the Jax game on Saturday and the coaches held him out of the Miami game yesterday. Chris Draft and Adam Seward took his place and played OK in his stead. Fox is really trying to keep his top players healthy and it not taking any chances with them. Both Steve Smith and Morgan would have played if this was the regular season, but it wasn't so he wasn't going to risk them in a meaningless game. Other than the rookie doing the thing we've been praying he'll do... 1) I was quite impressed with Culpepper. I know he is a good QB, but he was terrible last year when the Vikes came into town and then he tore his ACL when Gamble tackled him. I read on Charlotte.com that he came right over to Gamble in pre-game and said "Thank you" to him as it sounds like that play helped him escape Minny and he is very happy now. His passes were sharp and he had good chemistry with both McMichael and Chambers. Yes, it is pre-season, but I am moving all 3 up in my rankings for my draft today because what I saw at the game. The other think from the game was Dante's ability to avoid the rush. They had him 2 or 3 times and he escaped each time, which surprised me a little as I thought he would NOT be the old mobile guy he was. He may not be as mobile as he was, but did quite well against a very good D. 2) Panthers D is going to be very good, however, without Morgan in there it does drop a little from Draft and/or Seward. Draft is a great backup that can play inside or outside as can Seward that helps the Panthers with depth should he go down for more than one or two games. Morgan is poised to have a HUGH year with the beef we have on the DL with Jenkins looking good and the terrific addition of Kemo. With 700 lbs of beef taking up OL it will be very tough to run against the Panthers D and both Morgan and Peppers will benefit from Kemo and a healthy Jenkins. 3) Our OL still needs to work on gelling together. Hartwig will be a nice upgrade from Mitchell, but he still is learning Henning's system and the right OL calls to make. This should come with time. Mathis is nicknamed the Ogre at camp by one of the DL guys because of his strength the way he plays with a mean streak. He should be upgrade from Reyes, however, it make take a few games for them to play as a unit and open up better holes for Foster / Williams. 4) Thomas Davis is just learning, but he should be fun to watch as he gets better. In the 2nd QTR the Dolphins were driving into the red zone looking for a 1st down inside the 10 and Culpepper hit Wes Welker for a short pass near the sticks and Davis had him in is sights and leveled him with a hugh hit that drove him back and short of the marker. The guy can just flat hit people and will be on the ESPN best hits each week more than a few times. 5) Colbert has had a good camp and has played well in the first two games, but it looks like in my mind that Drew Carter has taken over the 3rd WR spot and he has great size and speed and could be a nice little sleeper towards the end of any draft. He and S. Smith are the two fasted guys on the team and Carter has the ability to break a big one at any time. He looked the best of all the WRs on Thursday, given that we didn't have much success throwing the ball against the Dolphins D. Hope that helps you out.
