RokoMotion
With all the mess that is surrounding the top 10 running backs this season, how has the preseason changed your opinions about any of them, if at all? I understand that we tend to overvalue importance of preseason, but have any of those top 10 backs shown promise with what carries they were given? Have any looked very bad? Last year, I picked up Larry Johnson in my redraft based off of how he was tearing it up in the preseason. Are there any guys, other than Mike Bell, who are doing that and deserve a flyer based on their performance?

I actually passed on Foster and grabbed him later in a draft today.

Avernus
I bumped up Mike Bell and Kevin Jones due to him being involved in the passing game... not to mention Portis falling way down my RB rankings...
Jimmy Neutron
I know it's just preseason, but I think you have to downgrade LJ a bit. LT and SA will be fine. Portis' injury may be nothing, but I've dropped him to 8th on my list. The R Johnson, Jackson, Brown, James, Jordan, Williams group is close, but I rank them in that order. McGahee, Parker, Westbrook and K Jones follow this group, IMO. All have ?s, but big upside. Despite Bill's recent comments, I'm not sold on Parker as a GL back. I've taken DD off my list - not worth the risk, IMO.

In one league we're drafting sept 4th. I wonder who else will go up or down by then.

You state you want to talk about the top 10 RBs then you mention Bell and someone else mentions Williams. neither one of them should be taken in the 1st round (redraft). Bell as a chance to finish in the top 10 but he is still a risky pick as your #1 overall. My list now is LT, SA, LJ, Tiki, then it gets tricky, S.Jackson, Edge, R.Johnson, Jordan, Portis, C.Williams. I was high on Portis but a shoulder injury is never fun.

I wonder who else will go up or down by then. yeah, I've moved LJ to 3rd on my list....I don't care how much of a beast he is... his best runs are when he sweeps outside and his blockers take the linemen while he runs over the smaller LB's or safeties.... that's not happening with Mr. straight edge at LT... or maybe Roaf comes back and I can get LJ at a steal

Savage Beatings
Here's the Huddle's top RB's. So what are the question marks for each player? I've tried to start the list... please feel free to add on or change what I've started. Tier 1 1 Larry Johnson KCC 3 [lost a lot of blockers from last year] 2 Ladainian Tomlinson SDC 3 [new unproven QB] 3 Shaun Alexander SEA 5 [lost pro-bowl Guard] Tier 2 4 Tiki Barber NYG 4 [older than dirt] 5 Ronnie Brown MIA 8 [question marks at QB] 6 Steven Jackson STL 7 [new offense, injury prone] 7 Clinton Portis WAS 8 [injured shoulder] 8 Edgerrin James ARI 9 [new team, worst O-line in the NFL] 9 Carnell Williams TBB 4 [?] 10 Rudi Johnson CIN 5 [on a team with a ton of weapons] 11 Willis McGahee BUF 8 [plays for the Bills] Tier 3 12 Lamont Jordan OAK 3 [he can catch, but can he run?]
Bronco Billy
5 Ronnie Brown MIA 8 [question marks at QB] What question marks are there at QB? Culpepper is entrenched as the #1 QB and he also seems completely healthy, and Harrington has appeared to have found some new life under a different HC (Saban - who has the looks of being an oustanding HC). It seems that MIA has one of the stronger QB tandems in the league, and it also appears a damn fine D (more 2nd half carries in close games or games where MIA is leading). R Brown would seem to be one of the safer picks one could make in the 1st round (especially with little in RB depth in MIA to steal too many carries). Brown should be the play of the O-line. I know that it was against one of the better Ds in the league, but they looked terrible on Thursday. Brown had no room to go anywhere. Savage Beatings
What question marks are there at QB? I'm not going to waste my time rehashing all of the arguments of why Culpepper is a risk at QB or why Harrington sucks. If you choose to believe otherwise then good luck with that. The thread is asking about questions regarding the first round RB's. That's really all I coudl think of for Brown, and frankly even if Culpepper's leg falls off and Harrington comes in to light up the INT board, I don't think it would be too much of a detriment to Ronnie Brown... he's going to produce this year no matter what. It's simply one factor to consider regarding teh Miami offense, or in your case, ignore.
BodyBagSlam
For Caddy, I would think that other than his arch problem last year, the schedule is rather heavy this season, but that's sort of a subjective take on it.

Chavez
Tier 1 1 Larry Johnson KCC 3 [lost a lot of blockers from last year, new head coach, new OC] 2 Ladainian Tomlinson SDC 3 [new unproven QB, has passed 2100 touches] 3 Shaun Alexander SEA 5 [lost pro-bowl Guard, turns 30, 1900 touches, big contract = less motivation] Tier 2 4 Tiki Barber NYG 4 [older than dirt] 5 Ronnie Brown MIA 8 [question marks at QB] 6 Steven Jackson STL 7 [new offense, injury prone] 7 Clinton Portis WAS 8 [injured shoulder] 8 Edgerrin James ARI 9 [new team, worst O-line in the NFL] 9 Carnell Williams TBB 4 [shows tendency towards injury] 10 Rudi Johnson CIN 5 [on a team with a ton of weapons] - As if Seattle and NY are barren? 11 Willis McGahee BUF 8 [shaky QBs, team sucks] Tier 3 12 Lamont Jordan OAK 3 [he can catch, but can he run?] Nice list Savage; ideally, when it comes down to it, I like to err on the side of youth in FF. The guys who appear to be very durable and in good situations - i.e., having the least downside - would be Tiki, R Brown, and Rudi. And Tiki's age scares the crap out of me. Portis has been durable, as has Edge - but Portis currently is injured and Edge is getting up there in age as well. Caddy is a great prospect but last season it looked like he might have durability issues. Of the big 3, LJ has the most change over the offseason but has been an absolute BEAST. Even a 50% dip in his production would result in something like 1200 yds rushing and 14 tds. LT and SA should be fine, but their ages are something that needs to start being considered - it's a rare back that remains highly productive past 30 and/or 2400 touches. LooGie
I recall that SEA lost the start guard, but KC lost several due to retirement and some with injury concerns. but last year, when Roaf was out, LJ still was the shizzy. I agree with you, I think LJ is going to end up 2nd or 3rd..but I also believe SA will fall a spot or 2 as well, based on the same situation. Plus a paycheck.
