HowboutthemCowboys
Any news, Dallas homers? IRVING, Texas - After sitting out with a sore groin in the Cowboys' 17-7 win over San Francisco, Mike Vanderjagt said he attempted 71 field goals on the players' day off Sunday and planned to kick in Monday's practice here at Valley Ranch. "I expect to be fine," said Vanderjagt, who also plans to play in Thursday's preseason finale against Minnesota at Texas Stadium (7 p.m. CDT). Vanderjagt's sore groin has kept him out of the last two games and prevented Parcells from gauging whether he can handle kickoffs regularly for the first time since 2003. Parcells thought Vanderjagt would play a week ago against New Orleans, but Vanderjagt pulled himself out before kickoff. This past Saturday, Parcells waited for Vanderjagt to warm up to decide if he was ready. "I said, 'What's it going to be?'" Parcells said. "And he said, 'I think it would be smart if I didn't kick,' so we didn't kick him." Vanderjagt has missed one regular-season season game because of injury since 1998. Parcells is hoping he doesn't have to use an extra roster spot on a kickoff specialist, likely second-year veteran Shaun Suisham, who had three of four kickoffs land in the end zone Saturday night. He also kicked a 25-yard field goal and missed a 35-yard attempt just before halftime. The Cowboys on Monday released rookie Tyler Fredrickson, who was capable of punting and kicking off but didn't do either against the 49ers. Parcells strongly considered letting Fredrickson punt but instead used last year's starter Mat McBriar on both attempts against San Francisco, one of which McBriar kicked deep as practice for the coverage team. Grits and Shins
I cut Vanderjagt in my dynasty league because he has the type of injury that could be with him all year. In addition Bill wants him to kick off so he doesn't have to have a specialist kick off man taking up a roster spot. Personally I think Vanderjagt is in danger of being cut 1) because he has kicked poorly in camp 2) he has been hurt and has not kicked in a pre-season game and 3) he is a specialist and Bill hates specialists

FYI, he can't. He WILL have to.
