umm, nothing about the OPs leaguesetup other than that it is 10-teams has been mentioned, so how can you make this comment? Really, other than a league that starts 2 QBs, there is no standard scoring system that "favors" QBs.

Even with 6 point TDs, Manning just does not outscore the other top QBs that go 2 or more rounds later by enough to warrant taking him so early.

 

 

 

Hashed to death, but 4 and 6 point TDs mak an extremely minimal impact on Manning's value UNLESS he is the only QB to get 6 points while all others still only get 4.

 

His value is determined by how much he outscores the other QBs, not by how many points he puts up. You can get a comparable QB in later rounds, the same can not be said of RBs and to a lesser extent WRs.

 

 

 

Even in 2004 PM was not the highest scoring QB in most standard scoring systems, Culpepper was.

 

Manning has consistency on his side, in that he regularly puts up top 5 QB numbers, the problem is he simply does not outscore QBs by enough, QBs that can be had 3-5 rounds later, to justify taking him that high.

Every year Manning goes very early(Rd 1 & 2) and every year there are QBs that get drafted in rounds 6 or later that will challenge his total points at the end of the season. People then point out that he never gets hurt. Well, maybe not yet, but you could make the argument that he's due for that. All QBs not playing in Wisconsin miss time with injury at some point in their careers. Manning is solid, but he is human.

Perhaps, but the tricky part is knowing now who those QBs will be. We know now that Manning will be there. Also, there is more to consistency than total points. It's also about week-to-week scoring. I want a guy who gets me 2 TDs every week more than a guy who throws three every other week.
