Side Dishes for Jerk Chicken

SO, got some chicken breasts marinating in one of those packages jerk chicken marinades. Gonna grill it up tonight for dinner.

Looking for suggestions on side dishes that pair well with jerk chicken. I was going ot steam up some brown rice and was thinking of grilling some veggies or something of that nature, but not sure if that pairs well, and if so what veggies are typical for a jerk chicken?

Or any other ideas for side dishes?

Need to let my wife know what to pick up at the store

Onions, corn, jalepeno's, red peppers and some squash... carmelize them and chop up serve with a nice topping of grated cheese!

maque choux:

8 medium ears of fresh corn

1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)

1 small green sweet pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)

2 tablespoons margarine or butter

1 medium tomato, cut up

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

Remove the husks from corn; scrub with a stiff brush to remove silks. Rinse. Use a sharp knife to remove corn from cobs, cutting two-thirds of the way to the cob. Scrape cobs with a dull edge of a knife. (You should have about 4 cups.)

In a 3-quart saucepan cook onion and green pepper in margarine or butter about 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in corn, tomato, salt, black pepper, and red pepper. Cover and cook over low heat about 20 minutes or until corn is tender. Season to taste. Makes 6 side-dish servings.

feel free to adjust for amount of people :D

also think different variation of sweet potatoes would go well with jerk. could do some sp steak fries, or mashers.

I guess your eating now--oh well-I'd go with the maque choux served cold for a contrast to the chicken--then for a starch roasted garlic potatoes or galette ( layered russets with mashed sweet potatoes and carmelized onions between each russet circle)--for dessert make a margarita pie.(instead of graham crackers use pretzels--after making crust freeze--in the mean time add one small can limeade-couple shots triple sec-6oz tequila and 2 scoops ice cream--take crust out of freezer- fill with filling mix-then put back in freezer for at least 2 hours--then top with slice of lime and then whipped cream)

OK... so what is the best jerk chicken marinade? Oh, for sides to jerk chicken it's rice and beans served along with seasoned steamed cabbage with carrots and onion for sides. Fried plaintains are good and also traditional.
