DeezNuts
Posted this in the Mike Bell thread but I thought there might be a bit more feedback posted individually. Just curious but has anyone considered that Cedric Cobbs may end up being the man? I mean, I have Mike Bell myself so this is a little concerning. Although Cobbs has played against 2/3rd stringers, he does lead all Denver backs in the preseason in yds and ypc, additionally, this guy was pretty highly touted coming out of Arkansas just couldn't stay healthy. He was drafted by New England in 2004... sent to Denver and learned the system in 2005, read some articles in the Denver Post online and there is some excitement about this guy... just not on the Huddle message boards or anywhere else, kind of an after thought. Normally whoever starts the pre-season game is the "starter" but who knows here... does anyone remember (more than likely from Denver) where Reuben Droughns was at on the depth chart come pre-season week 4 in 2004? He seemed to come out of no where. You know how Shanny likes to surprise everyone... any thoughts on this? Savage Beatings
After all of this, it wouldn't surprise me if Dayne got the start. Just kidding. My thoughts are, if my draft happens to fall where either Mike or Tinker Bell are the best available for me to pick, then I will take a chance on just one of them (probably Mike Bell) and see where they end up later in the season. I'm not going to waste too much time handcuffing these guys at this point, and I'm not going to plan on starting any Denver RB in week 1. It's too much of a headache. Wolv
More Shanny games. M. Bell has definitely outplayed the other RBs. At this point I'm going with on-field performance, not shananigans. I'll still pick up M. Bell, but I sure as hell wont waste any more RB spots with the rest of the Denver crew.
thecerwin
I feel fortunate enough to have drafted Ron Dayne in the 10th round of my league back when he was marked as the starter. A week after I drafted him I ended up trading Ron to another guy in my league for his 7th round draft pick next year (6 player/12 team keeper). About a week later Mike Bell is picked up off of free agency by me. SO I now have invested just about nothing into this Denver RB situation but have this supposed starter. I hope it works out, but if it doesn't I should be a-ok. I am still hoping Mike Bell is the second coming of Jesus (third if you count Reggie Bush... fourth if you count LaBron James). cliaz
Well per their website this morning their depth chart is as follows: RB 20 Mike Bell 26 Tatum Bell 33 Ron Dayne 34 Cedric Cobbs I know, I know, that doesn't mean poo. But still..
DeezNuts
Here we go... put on your seat belt... will the Denver back who piles up the yardage be named the starter? Who knows? I think Dayne is a turd and Tatum is trade bate... its coming down to Mike Bell and Cedric Cobbs...

Raider.Nation
Cobbs has looked good against weaker defensive players, Bell looked fine. How can these guys build any kind of momentum when they're only playing with 10 carries per game. Who does Shanny think they are? Tatum Bell?!?!? Oh, wait... BIG SACK
I keep telling you guys that Tatum is the most talented and he will have the job. Watching tonight and since he has shown his face out of nowhere...Mike Bell sucks. It is a classic motivational...oh I am tired of telling you guys. You will see. Tonight Tatum gets the job. Mike ell had a 13 yard run...then 4 more carries for 9 yards. Wooohooo.
DeezNuts
Tatum had a chance to win the starting job in 2004, 2005, and then again in the preseason of 2006... whatever the knock on this guy.. Shanny doesn't like'em... 2.5 years of motivation? c'mon... look for Mike Bell or Cobbs to start in bid D!

Tatum has 3 carries for 4 yards. He's a superstar. What you keep telling us is wrong. Tatum will get carries, but Shanahan does not want him to be the starter, and this is not motivational. sfrizz
Posted this in the Mike Bell thread but I thought there might be a bit more feedback posted individually. Just curious but has anyone considered that Cedric Cobbs may end up being the man? Every year I take one of the Denver understudies in the last three rounds. More often than not this has led to great upside later on in the season. This year I took Cobbs in the 16th and last round. It might take 10 weeks, but at some point he will be worth a pick up. If Mike Bell gets hurt, I think Cobbs will fill in the starter role.
BIG SACK
yea they should just cut him for guy who has done nothing in the NFL what so ever. Cut Bell who had 900 plus yards in a backup role.

BIG SACK
I guess atomic knows Shanny. Hey it is fine with me. Go jump on the undrafted rookie's bandwagon. It doesn't hurt me any. I'll put my money on Tatum. Or since most of you guys are in like 40 leagues you can get both of them and which ever one pans out you can say..."i knew it". I'm not on his bandwagon... and I haven't even said he'll win the competition. All I'm saying is that Shanahan does not believe Tatum can be the starter. Tatum plays a great fill-in roll when the defense is worn down. That's what he's good at. I hope we continue to use him that way to win games. As for who the starter will be? I'd draft Mike Bell late and stay close to the waivers with your finger on Cobbs just in case. Nobody knows.

BIG SACK
At least if they cut him you can stop spewing your man love for him. Intelligent response. Hey how come whenever I show that I like a particular player some geek comes along and says some stuff about sperm and gay stuff. I mean are we grown men or do we just say the dumbest thing we can think of. I say I think Bell will be good and everyone jumps on and freaks out. Hey kid...there are things called opinions. We are all allowed to have them and if we like a particular football player we are not in love with him. This is like Romper Room. They need to have adult message boards for people who would like to discuss football intelligently.
