I drafted this team from the 5 hole Saturday ... I will preface it by saying it was a very WR dominated draft

BFavre (8.08) ... :D

SMcNair (9.05)

RBrown (1.05) ... Big 3 and Barber off the board

MBell (3.05)

DRhodes (6.08)

JAddai (10.08)

WLundy (13.05)

JNorwood (16.08)

THolt (2.08)

TJHoushyermama (5.05)

LColes (7.05)

TWilliamson (12.08)

GJennings (14.08)

THeap (4.08)

DAkers (15.05)

IND (11.05)

I just missed out on McNabb and settled for Favre/McNair ... I'm not really pleased but hopeful.

Assuming Holt is healthy he is fine as a number 1 ... but the rest of my WRs are 2s and 3s

I like Rudi at 5. No problems with that qb, and with Perry out he'll get the touches you need.

His downside is a stiff sked, but he performed well last year with the 4 games vs the Steelers and Ravens. Brown doesn't have that concern. But can he go 16 full weeks?

I don't have any problem at the 5 hole - this year, it's a jumble, but with talent like Ronnie Brown, Caddy, Rudi, Tiki, Edge, SJax, and Portis there, I think people's main problem is fear of picking the WRONG guy - because you know one of them is going to fall off the face of the earth for some reason or another.

I'm still shocked people aren't considering LaMont Jordan @ 5...especially in PPR leagues. :D Dont get me wrong..I'm more than happy to be taking him in the late 2nd, which where he's been falling to me, but still, I'm just surprised by that.

I think that there are more than enough ???? about the Raiders if not Jordan to justify putting people in better situations above him in the rankings.

Like Edge? :D My point is that LaMont isn't even being considered in the same class as those 4-8 picks. Come on man, the whole middle to end of the first round is a toss up. If you can put Edge in the top 10, then LJ2 should be in there as well.

with Brooks the need to dump off passes is going to be huge. When he has NO time to get the ball to Moss 70 yards downfield...ol' Brooky will be dumping to LJ2 like a maniac. LJ2 did just fine last year.

I see crazy numbers for him this year. Well, higher than 2nd round draft pick numbers. Barring injury and Jeff George of course :D

...edge with those receivers to keep defences honest is going to put up some nice numbers this year.

loogie, not even top 10 in your rankings?...let him slide is all i got to say

um...what?

I'm not saying edge doesn't belong in the top 10...I'm saying LaMont does belong there. I'm thrilled that he's not being taken there, and falling to the 2nd round, but there's no secrets on the huddle. We share and share alike!

At least Denny Green and Ketih Rowen have had success in the league in the past decade. Art Shell and Tom Walsh, not so much. :D

Not to mention Shell's track record as far as RB production is a bit troubling.

Not to mention TOTAL avg rec for Raiders RBs during the previous Shell/Walsh tenure was 57 per year.

Brooks' RBs caught about 73 passes total per year during the 5 yrs he was NO's primary QB.

Since you wanted to put him up vs Edge, I'd say Edge has the better QB and more consistent offense around him; OLs are a push; coaching is right now a BIG advantage for Edge; youth goes on the side of Jordan. I can see them both catching in the 65 range for passes, and Denny didn't bring Edge to Arizona to be a show pony - he WILL get carries until game situations dictate the run be completely abandoned. With Shell and Lamont, I'm not sure what the dedication to the run will be. I think you may want to put down the Raiders' Kool-Aid and reconsider.

The problem with the top 10 is it's by definition only 10 guys. :D

Since you jumped on Edge as an example but say he certainly belongs in the top 10, who of these guys goes?

Big 3 (mortal locks)

R Brown

Caddy

Rudi

Tiki

S Jax

Portis

whoa whoa whoa. I'm not drinking anything from the black hole. You make EXCELLENT points about the coaching, but what I'm saying is, if all things considered..the only thing seperating these two teams is coaching then LJ2 is a top 10 pick IMO. Right behind Edge.

LaMont is hugh in the passing game, and I doubt that will be overlooked, even by a coaching staff that's been running a bed and breakfast for a decade. And we all know Brooks pretty much does what his instincts tell him at "go time" and with LaMont being such a hugh factor in that area, I'm predicting Brooks to panic like crazy...if he has more than 3 seconds in the pocket, it's going to the vicinity of Moss, but 2 seconds, it's a dump off (or a pass to a lineman..or a sack..or an INT :D)

LJ2 proved his worth last year, even with a complete moran in Norv Turner (as an HC that is) and Shell/Jeff George and flashbacks to the "black years" aren't going to change that. IMO.

good question

none, but if i had to choose...caddy, similar situation to jordan but id take caddy everytime i think. the fact being you get one from that list plus jordan in the 1.9-1.12 spot and your set for a good start to your draft. saying you have jordan for a rb1 doesnt exactly scare the crap out of me...as a rb2 though its a different story

Eh, I like Edge as much as the next guy, but with his mileage and the dismal RB production last year, I'd prefer about 8 or 9 guys ahead of him.

That said, like Lamont, I don't think I'd be weeping in my martini if he slid to me at the 12 or 13 spot.

like it even matters. pick one...they're so close together. what's the use of trying to filter them. If Rudi was being considered in the late 2nd round, I'd be saying "whut up wif dat" as well.

We could all make arguments for any of these guys to not be in the top 10, and we could all make arguments for them to be there as well. IMO, i'm not that high on Brown. Just a hunch really...that whole injury thing..but you could say that about all of them.

Fair enough; and this sort of illustrates my original point in that the main problem at the 5 hole is that there ISN'T a no-brain obvious choice, which makes people nervous; IMO too many fantasy GMs suffer from the same problem NFL GMs and HCs run into - stepping outside the box or taking a risk invites ridicule if it doesn't work out and it makes people afraid to go against the grain.

And past the Big 3, the next 8-10 guys (if you're putting Edge and Lamont in the same tier, are McGahee and Parker really that far behind?) are a total jumble based on personal preference; heck, even the Big 3 all have ??? and are up in the air as far as order. In one draft, W Parker and L Jordan went before R Brown; J Jones was the next RB and I drafted Portis in the mid-2nd. In another (which was the initial draft in a keeper/eventual dynasty league) ALL of those guys (including McGahee, and R Bush but not Parker) went with the first 14 picks (SJax 4, Edge 5, R Brown 6, McGahee 11, Jordan last in the run) . And I couldn't fault any of the picks based on the reasoning the owners gave.

i see your point, but im looking at what emmit did with his cardinals at the prime age of...well older than edge, then comparing it to what edge has to work with? imo he will put up numbers in the 4-7 spot range...but its almost apples and oranges...as these guys are alll about the same
