Shakenbake
I noticed something interesting last night that I was unaware of that may influence my College bets this year. There were a variety of rule changes in the offseason for 2006, with most of them designed to shorten the game. This can have a major effect on betting the underdogs. Obviously I am sure Vegas has this in mind as well, but I really think it starts to make the underdog even more attractive in most games. This rule in particuliar which I noticed while watching a game on ESPN last night: "Rule 3-2-5-e, When Clock Starts Change: When Team B is awarded a first down, the clock will be stopped and will start on the ready for play signal. Rationale: By starting the clock, the committee estimates it will shorten the game by about five minutes, according to studies by several Division I-A conferences. " 5 minutes is a ton of time to cut a game down by, and as I said I am sure Vegas has thought of this, but they may not see the effects on this for a few weeks, so it maybe worth taking a shot on a few dogs early this season. Happy Gambling and good luck this year! For a list of all the rule changes go HERE Edited September 1, 2006 by Shakenbake
crispirons
interesting. to me, it would seem to help the cause of the under. the overtime rule which went into effect a few yrs ago has translated into more games going over. like last night on the iowa st./toledo game. the over was 56, which i played and would have never got, if it didn't have the crazy ot rule. i think this offsets that a bit. good info bake. wildcat2334
Yes- very interesting. I watched the end of the Fresno/Nevada game to see how it may spped the clock. Didn't notice a hugh difference, will be watching today to see if more unders are hitting.
