rebdog
We had the first head to head matchup of the two rookie QBs. From the highlights I saw, it was all Leinart....and then he got hurt of course. But checking the stats, Cutler seemed to have a very good game....except for the pick for a TD. Anybody see the game? How did Cutler look? Can the kid take the job by next year?

Bushey
No question about Cutler taking over next year unless Plummer has an MVP season. It would need to end in a victory in the SB for Plummer to keep his job. Cutler has a huge arm. Reminds me of Favre except for Cutler having better fundamentals. Shanny has made the statement that he can finally run every play in his offense with Cutler. Hasn't been able to do that since Elway retired. Capt. Stanky
Cutler is the real deal. He's got a rocket arm and decent mobility. I think he'll be the best QB out of this class. Will he start next year? I can't say for sure. If I'm not mistakent Plummer is signed for the next 4 years. I don't forsee him loosing the job unless Den. tanks this season or next, or he gets hurt. I think the latter is more likely.

I snagged him and Plummer in a 10 Player keeper. I don't know if I'll be able to keep Cutler unless he's got the starting job.

Shanny QBs have respectable numbers over the years, but nothing shocking. Elway threw 27 TDS in 1997. That was his highest total. They are and will always be a running team as long as Shanny is at the helm.

My starters are Palmer and Roethlisberger
Bronco Billy
Well, I don't know how excited I would be about having a Denver QB. They are and will always be a running team as long as Shanny is at the helm. But Shanahan also has top O teams many years also, and the strong running game ceratinly sets the table for strong passing numbers. Both Plummer & Griese have put up massive years in DEN's system. Make no mistake, we aren't ever talking about "Greatest Show on Turf" type numbers, but we are talking about top 7/8 FF QB numbers. The biggest problem is that DEN scores so damn many points in the 1st half, and in particular the 1st quarter. Playing from ahead in a lot of games means they will go to the run more than the pass to shorten games & wear down opposing Ds. That will limit the passing opportunities somewhat. As far as Cutler, all I can say is WOW! The kid has a laser for an arm, can make all the throws, can fit the ball into tight windows, and has great touch, which is extremely important. He has poise in the pocket & is decisive going through his progression. IMO, for what it's worth, I think he'll take the job away from Plummer next season. He'll spend this season on the bench learning on the sideline unless Plummer gets hurt - which is the only way I see him starting this season. kwolf68
Cutler is a terrific young prospect, but Leinart has been playing like a veteran, hes simply been amazing. Either way, both these kids have bright futures...the real dummies in this mix are the Titans who drafted an unintelligent QB with sloppy mechanics who hasn't learned 1/20th of the Titans playbook. Fischer and Norm chow wanted Leinart, but the suits-and NOT the football people-got what they wanted...The Titans will not have to look very far to see just why they suck...first Pacman Jones and now this debacle...Pitiful. AtomicCEO
Kircus once again looked great. If he doesn't make it as the slot, I'll be amazed. Even against the first team defense, he was getting crazy crazy open and catching anything. Cedric Cobbs looked good, but he fell back to earth after his ridiculous preseason so far. He's got to make the roster I think. Nash might be the odd man out who gets cut if Denver can't trade a RB. Foxworth was giving up catches all over the place, which resulted in a lot of tackles. If somebody gets injured and he gets a starting job, he's worth picking up fantasy-wise... but he's no good for Denver. In the last two weeks, Rookie DE Dumervil got 6 tackles, 2 assists and a sack and looked like a monster. I wonder if he has any impact this year. Chavez
Leinart is hyped ahead of Cutler because he's playing in what was a more pass-friendly offense and the QB in front of him is as durable as tissue paper. Plummer has many flaws, but being injury-prone isn't one of them. So Leinart is a hotter item this year.
PantherDave
I said it on "Draft Day" and I'll say it again-of the 3 1st rounders, Cutler will be the best Pro QB.

He'll spend this season on the bench learning on the sideline unless Plummer gets hurt - which is the only way I see him starting this season. What he said. Cutler is very much like Jake Plummer, but is a more polished (IMO) passer with a stronger arm. He gets a little excited ala the Snake, but he's a rookie so he's allowed. I expect him to start next year unless Plummer takes the team to the Superbowl this year - a distinct possibility. A funny aside - if you caught the Broncos training camp special on NFL Network, Shanny was clowning around with the punter telling him not to worry about his form, because Denver won't be punting this year. I got a kick out of that. I was also very impressed with the way Shannahan coaches. He and Holmgren have very positive teaching styles that many other coaches could learn something from.
