Balzac
Profootballtalk.com reports that two teams have made Deion Branch a six-year, $36 million contract offer. One of the teams is reportedly the New York Jets. The Patriots would reportedly receive a second-round pick and a "pretty good" player in return. According to PFTalk, the deal has hit a snag because it was supposed to be finished Friday. Stay tuned.
Vet
...The Patriots would reportedly receive a second-round pick and a "pretty good" player in return. ... Well then, that would exclude the Jets then wouldn't it?

Balzac
Well then, that would exclude the Jets then wouldn't it? McCareins? Wouldn't be bad for Pats - solid possession receiver. Not sure why Mangini hates him so much.

The Wolf
As a Jet fan, my first response is...WHY??????? IF this is true -- a big IF -- there are too many other needs here. Why give up a "pretty good player" and a 2nd rounder for one guy when the team is a few years away from being solid enough that having such a player makes sense? georgemoe
I'm also reading rumors that an undisclosed NFC team (Seahawks) is in the mix as well. Minnesota is also being mentioned. Here is a Newsday link.

SteelBunz
50/50 Jets/Seahawks If YOU think so.....just because it's reported that 2 teams are interested.....does NOT make the odds 50/50.
Big John
Honestly......what are the odds of the Pats dealing their "#1 WR" to a team in their own division? The Pats will trade in the division if the price is high enough, as they did with Drew Bledsoe.
irish
I read Maroney has a knee injury but they don't know how severe it is.

Savage Beatings
I wouldn't mind if the Vikings went after him, as long as they don't overpay... which of course I'm sure they would.

georgemoe
Rumors I have been reading over at patsfan.com is that Minnesota has the best offer to "Branch" money/contract wise. Where the two teams are as far as compensation goes is anyones guess.
Balzac
The Pats will trade in the division if the price is high enough, as they did with Drew Bledsoe. Excellent point. If they could get a 2nd rounder plus a viable WR like McCareins, I think they'd do it.
