suburban_pimp
I selected him in a recent draft - 24th RB - and am wondering aloud if that is value or not? Part of me says he was there for a reason and the less developed part of my mind says, "He is value there." Can I survive with him as my RB2 in a 12 team league? Giants56
I personally think that's about right for him, maybe a little bit of a value. I think you are looking at a lot of inconsistency but if he can string together a couple of good games to start the year he might earn back Parcells full trust which he doesn't have right now. Nothing wrong with JJ as a RB2 at all IMO. It would be prudent to acquire Barber as well given Jones injury history but JJ has some homerun ability in him unlike many of those other RBs around where you picked him. P1Day1
Just my opinion, but while Barber may be a more talented "runner" I think JJ brings the whole package better. He's laid some pretty heay wood blocking, which in important when you have Frankenstein as your QB. The MIN pre-season game was a little scary but in the real world (not pre-season) I think a defenses will have to respect TO-Glenn-Witten and not crowd the line. Mix that in with the schedule and once Dallas gets past week 1 JAX I think JJ will start to rock and Parcels will use MB as just a change of pace. Obviously injuries are a concern, but he hasn't had a string of the same injuries, so I'm currently scoring that as just bad luck. He was dropping like a rock in our Dallas league (anti-homerism maybe?), I would have jumped all over him but already had 2 RBs from rounds 1&2, so had to look elsewhere. MERLINS
I think JJ is the real deal, I really do. Here is my take on the situation........he is still trying to get the "trust" of his head coach. He seemed to have had it after the '04 season. He came back from his injury last season on the MOnday night game against Philly (Big Game) and almost immediately dropped the rock. Parcells pulled his a$$ and he split time with Barber moving forward. The worst part of this to me, was seeing JJ run with 2 arms locked around the rock. This may work for players like Alstott but not for elusive and quick runners like JJ that rely on their arms while they run and make cuts. He was so paranoid about dropping the ball that he ran like a FB. There were times that I would see him miss cuts and it was frustrating to see. Towards the end of the year he came back to his usual self as his confidence rose and (coincidentally) his production rose. In short, I think that with the respect that the passing game will have this year, JJ will be a top 10 fantasy back this year.

broncosn05
go JJ! Nope Barber would've definetely been the smart pick for your team. Parcells has already said he will be giving Barber more touches...

I think everyone is aware of that. JJ can still be a productive #2 back though.
Capt. Stanky
I'm throwing my hat in the barber corner. JJ has a history of injury's. He was hurt throughout his college career. He's also been terribly inconsistent throughout his college and pro career. In JJ's breakout year of 2004 he had most of his stats in a 4 game chunk. He had similar production in college. You're typical boom or bust player. Parcell's has commended Barber numerous times during training camp on his blocking, receiving skills and hard running between the tackles. I personally think Parcells is waiting for JJ to stumble out of the gate so he can plug Barber in. I wouldn't want him as my #2, but I would love having JJ and Barber handcuff as my #3. TDFFFreak
Bypassed handcuff in favor of Lundy; It already hurts... Starting RB vs a back-up handcuff. I think you made the right call even with questions about the Texans' run game.
BRUISER
Not too high on Jones this year. He killed me last year. But - hopefully he will get bottled up by Jax in week one and his owner will go in to panic mode. I wouldn't ming getting him cheap just for some more rb depth. Every year Parcells says he's going to give the back-up more touches.
