BadgerBacker
I had my first foray into IDP last night without too much prep and paid the price. Went for DL's instead of LB's, which was bad idea. (Thanks, Sarge, for pointing that out fairly.) It's not a deep league, 10 team and requiring two DL's, two DB's, and two flex. So, with some roster churning, I should be able to get a little recovery going. My defensive players are Umenyiora and Schobel at DL, Adrian Wilson and Gibril Wilson at DB, and Suggs and Abraham at flex. Jason Taylor, Mathis, and Shawntae Spencer are reserves. Definitely a n00b draft. Scoring is Tackle Solo (1) Tackle Assist (.5) Sack (4) Interception (8) Fumble Force (3) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Pass Defended (1) Block Kick (2) I'm planning to drop Mathis, Spencer. I'm considering dropping one or both of Abraham and Suggs too. The following LB's are available: Witherspoon, Trotter, Kawika Mitchell, Morrison, Morgan, Brackett, Dansby, Adalius Thomas, and DeMeco Ryan. Witherspoon is a clear add and I downgrade Morgan, Dansby, and maybe Brackett due to injury concerns. Thomas is not a middle, but gets to the QB. After Witherspoon, I'm thinking Trotter, Mitchell, and Morrison are my next best choices. How would IDP vets rank these LB's? And should I just look to recycle my reserves or clean out the flex spots too? Definitely learning the hard way, but the lesson will stick. keggerz
Do not drop Suggs, Taylor or Abraham they have trade value...try to use them to upgrade another position D or O Spoon is the first p/u I would make then call me crazy but I think I would take a stab at DeMeco Ryans, then Morrison then Trotter... INTS are EIGHT POINTS EACH so I would try and get a LB that will be on the field in nickle situation(trotter wont be for the most part)
keggerz
fwiw you could actually have the top 5 DL this yr on your team right now Sugg Schobel Abraham Osi Taylor so you do have depth for making some trades
BadgerBacker
Thanks. Looking a little deeper into the positional eligibility, I see that both DL's and LB's qualify as DL's in this league. That doesn't seem very challenging , but it's a free league and I figured that was a good way to cut my teeth. That makes me think I might want to shed some more DL's in favor of LB's. I am a three year vet at IDP leagues..so I am still relatively new. But I like Spoon as well. I think Ryans will also be a stud this year racking up tackles. After them two, I like Brackett and Morrison. Stay away from Morgan...his little heady might get hurt!!! Also, Thomas I think is strong side, so he won't do as much as Bart Scott. My two cents. BadgerBacker
Thank you all for the advice. I ended up dropping Spencer, Mathis, and Abraham, and placed successful waiver claims on Witherspoon, Morrison, and Ryans. I'm starting Schobel, Taylor, Witherspoon, Morrison, and the Wilson's this week. If Ryans plays well, I'll probably add him as a starter and play matchups with my good linemen the rest of the way looking good sack matchups. I think the Morrison pick up could be the real steal here. That guy has huge upside this year.
URLACHERisGOD
Why is Kawika Mitchell getting no love 'round here? Somebody better pick him up before it is too late. You want tackles? Kawika is your man. Other than Witherspoon, he will outscore everyone else on that list this week. Go ahead and mark it down.

Kawika is your man. Other than Witherspoon, he will outscore everyone else on that list this week. Go ahead and mark it down. I'm going to monitor Mitchell and he's someone I may target with a waiver claim. There were two reasons I added Morrison and Ryans ahead of him. And I think Morrison is going to have a great year in his own right. The first was time of possession. KC was good last year and I can see that maintained under Edwards despite the OL issues. Houston and Oakland has poor time of possession last year. Houston may improve, but I doubt Oakland will. Probably means more playmaking opportunities for Morrison and Ryans than Mitchell, right? The second is that KC will be running a cover-2 this year and I actually want to see how Mitchell is used in passing situations before I move him up the list. Just my opinion and I'm really, really new to IDP.
BadgerBacker
Ryans has a nice line today...on my bench. 12 solos, 1 assist. Anyone actually see the game?
