Notre Dame is going DOWN !

As expected, watching Notre Dame play Georgia Tech, they are vastly over-rated. I am so glad that they got that win so that Penn State can be the first one to put an exclamation point on how over-rated they are. Other than the run blocking, I was very happy with Penn State's performance against Akron. I was there and despite the rain, it was a lot of fun. Penn State's offensive weapons are vast with Derrick Williams, Deion Butler, Norwood, Chris Bell, Wallace, & Hunt. Morelli is the real deal. Defensively, the secondary looked good, but, will be in for a test this Saturday. The defensive line did decent, and all we need from them is to occupy lineman and allow Connor, Pozluzny, & Shaw make the plays. I look for Penn State to take the win in South Bend. Now, two weeks later, I think the Nittany Lions are in trouble against the Buckeyes, but, I think I am going to enjoy Saturday.....

I didn't start really watching the GT-ND game until After the Auburn bloodbath was over, but the GT D looked solid against ND. Linebacker U is going to come alot stronger than the ramblin wreck. Pozluzny is a stud and will eat pretty-boy Quinn's lunch.

I see PS 24 ND 17

Wish I had known you were gonna be there, the wife and I drove up at the last minute for the game. We coulda met up for a beer. Oh and I wasn't overly impressed with the D line either. Although it was kinda weird, we played more of a 3-4 than a 4-3. The safties were outstanding and the corners were solid except for getting burned on that late TD. I'm afraid that ND is going to be able to run on this D.

On the other side of the ball the run blocking was atrocious. Akron had 8 and 9 men in the box to stop the run though, perhaps teams will be more aware of Morelli's arm from now on. He made pretty good decisions except for a period in the third quarter where he kept throwing into coverage instead of the open man. We could have the best group of receivers in the country. On a cool, wet day the only ball that would count as a drop was when the TE let one go through his hands.

I think PSU is gonna have to get into a shoot out to win this.

BTW we ran into Morelli at Champs after the game. Real nice kid. Humble even.

Much like last week with cal getting beat by tennessee, no one should be "shocked" to see penn state beat notre dame. I sure won't. ND is just lucky Reggie Ball forgot he had Calvin Johnson on his team, otherwise it might have been a different result. Quinn looked pretty average as well. Look ND got the #2 ranking because they LOST a close game to a great USC team at home last year ( with the grass grown up to the ankles). No one gets more credit for LOSSES than Notre Dame, and make no mistake about it, there #2 ranking is because they are Notre Dame. Weis still hasn't beaten anyone good yet, maybe this will be the week, but I have my doubts. PSU's defense is much more stout, particularly against the run, than Ga Tech will ever dream to be.

ABSOLUTELY :D Conspicuously missing from the newly anoited "best college coach ever's" resume is a win over a ranked team. They get credit for almost not losing to USC at home, but the 34-20 drubbing that Ohio State put on that a$$ on a neutral field is conveniently not spoken of :D As with every year in the past 15 that ND gets a player that can run or pass 20 yds they get overrated and the first real competition they face they get spanked....well.

i wonder if all these "lifetime" notre dame fans will be running there mouths after the team loses 3-4 games this year?

Nope. I just can't wait to be the first team to show how over-rated they are this year.

PSU 34

ND 30

While ND's performance at Tech wasn't what I was expecting, considering all the hype and distractions in the off-season, coupled with an excellent performance by a very pumped-up Tech - I think the outcome couldn't have been better for ND. They had to win a hard-fought game in hostile territory - ugly, yes, but probably the best thing that could have happened to them to shake them up and get them ready for the rest of the season.

Penn State is going to wish they had that type of game experience (Akron? Please!) when they come up to South Bend. This one will be ND's by at least two touchdowns.

You Penn State fans keep posting how you are going to win but none of you will take my bet. I know you'll forget about this saturday when ND wins then comeback with how good Penn State is when they beat Youngstown State.

Also, didn't ND beat Michigan last year? Remind me, how did PSU do against Michigan?

The close game in Atlanta had more to do with Ga Tech being very underrated more so than ND being overrated. The hating starts early, winning a TOUGH road game, against a team that has the #1 WR pick in next year's draft, Reggie Ball who is probably a 3rd Round Pick and thier RB Chase who was recruited by OU to replace Peterson, but transferred home at the onset of his motehr's illness.

So, Tech has an serious offense, and all the ND ahters did nothing but bag on the Defense. After holding them to 10 points, you'll still find a way to hate. Do you think Brady Quinn forgot how to play the game or maybe had a case of "happy feet" on the road in a season opener.

ND handles Penn State. 3-4 losses? Dream on. The echoes are waking...

O.k. first, to your trying to use Michigan as a meauring stick for last year.

Penn State 31

Michigan St. 22

Michigan State 44

Notre Dame 41

Now that we got that out of the way, and despite the fact that they are 8 point underdogs, I'll make a sigline bet with you. Actually, we can make it a sigline / avatar bet, if you are down with it.

If I win, you wear the following sig and avatar from after the game until the next Saturday morning at 9AM Eastern time.

[Please sing along]

Boo, Boo for Old Notre Dame, we got killed in yesterday's big game. We will now just sit and cry, cause our BCS hopes have gone - bye-bye. Although the odds had us winning it big, we have a coach who is fat as a pig. We have just proven that, we're the most overated team in history......the most overated team in history is.....Notre Dame !!!

Notre Dame Sucks

If you win, I will wear the sig and avatar of your choice from after the game until the next Saturday morning at 9AM Easter time.

So, are you in ? :D

I'm in. I'll post your avatar and sig later.

Also, I wasn't using Michigan as a measuring stick. I was just stating that ND did beat atleast one good team last year. Unlike PSU fans I am man enough to admit that PSU was better then ND last year. Now we'll see if PSU fans are man enough to admit ND is better this year when we win on saturday.

Trust me, I'll be man enough to admit it, if Notre Dame wins on Saturday. The word I'm getting from most Notre Dame fans is that they expect Saturday to be a walk in the park. I think you boys are in for a bit of a surprise. Should be fun. :D

Again Pope I must ask you, what has Notre Dame even done in the Weis era other than lose a close game vs USC last year? Sorry but Georgia Tech pretty much did everything they could to lose that game. The "vaunted" Irish defense looked absolutely helpless when Reggie Ball (ROFL 3rd round pick? DREAM ON!) remembered that he had Calvin Johnson on his team. If Notre Dame is lucky enough to survive Penn State (which I don't think they will) they will certainly lose to Michigan who will be very hungry after (like Ga Tech) doing everything in there power to lose to the Irish last year.

I will give Notre Dame credit, yes they did go into a hostile environment, and came away with the W. All I'm saying is they better improve A LOT going up against a VERY GOOD Nittany Lion Defense. Bottom line is we're still waiting for a legit big win from Charlie Weis (The son of god). All we've seen so far are losses to very bad teams (Michigan State) close losses where they were playing out of there mind against a very good team (USC) and finally getting there flaws completely exposed vs another very good team (Ohio State). Notre Dame gets there foot in the door on there reputation, but they haven't gotten all the way in yet.
