Texas starting CB faces Drug and Weapons charges

It is somewhat concerning, but not enough to put anyone into panic mode. Texas has a long tradition of good DB's and I'm not overly concerned about them replacing the kid. I would be much more concerned if it was Charles are Young on the O side, or one of their defensive front.

Defensive co-coordinator Gene Chizik said the team remains "very focused."

"One thing that's awesome about the University of Texas, you have opportunities to have great depth," Chizik said.

I also have to beleive that who ever is covering Ginn will be getting help over the top on obvious passing downs. Does this hurt, yes, but not as much as one might think. That being said, my gut feeling is that Brown will play if the urine test comes back negative. There was a blunt found under the seat. It wasn't as if they had a dime bag and were rolling the crap. The gun charge is really of little or no concern. If the gun was visible which by all indications it was then I'm pretty sure no crime was committed. If it had been concealed there would have been a problem, but apparently the firearm was in plain site. It can be argued that it was being carried recklessly because he was asleep while he was holding it, but the likelyhood of that sticking is very minimal.

I'm sure Mack will show a little class here and sit this clown for a bit, if not , it further demostrates the lengthns sports will take for the all mighty $

What if the urine test comes back negative? I'm with you, the kid should be suspended if the urine test comes back positive, but I don't think the kid should sit if his urine test is clean. The gun charge is very weak. The gun was registered, and it was not concealed from all indications.

What about the weapons charge? Forget about the drugs.

The gun was registered, it was a legal firearm, and it was not concealed. Had Brown been awake instead of asleep there is no way this charge is even filed. I guess that him being asleep could count for recklessly handling a firearm, but that is weak. My guess is that the gun charge will be dropped.
