Scorcher
Heard at one time this guy was a lock to step in when/if KJ gets hurt. Speclation was he is another Marshall Faulk and Martz would be all over him. Now he seems to be no.3 or 4. Any insights from the "Motor City" or anyone else. He had a pretty good pre-season. Scorcher
Brian Calhoun will never be another Marshall Faulk thats for sure....KJ will be the man this year So should I dump him and pick up Morris or Turner? Do you own KJ?
cdj7k
So should I dump him and pick up Morris or Turner? Do you own KJ? i would grab turner. i think he may spell tomlinson, to keep LT from getting nicked up like he has in the past and if LT goes down. he could be very good. Scorcher
Brian Calhoun will never be another Marshall Faulk thats for sure....KJ will be the man this year As long as he's not another KJ! i would grab turner. i think he may spell tomlinson, to keep LT from getting nicked up like he has in the past and if LT goes down. he could be very good. I want to respond to this in a way that it won't get transferred to FFB advice. I might lose a bar. LT did seem to be nicked up at the end and I do wonder how he's going to do this season. Turner is definitely a running machine. If SD lets him go next year he's going to be big for somebody if he is a featured back!
BigTen
From all indications I see and hear, A. Harris is KJ's back-up. He has looked good in the preseason and Martz loves the guy. Maybe Calhoun will take over eventually but I think Harris the the #2 for now.
NAUgrad
At my most recent draft last Monday, someone said that Calhoun had been cut! I hadn't heard that! Is that correct, or is he just #3 or #4 on the depth chart?
Big John
At my most recent draft last Monday, someone said that Calhoun had been cut! I hadn't heard that! Is that correct, or is he just #3 or #4 on the depth chart? According to NFL.com, he is #2 on the depth chart, and #3 on the Huddle depth chart. Bronco Billy
Well, I'm not a DET homer (thank God) but I was a Calhoun proponent before training camp started, and I still am. The rookie cleared the first hurdle by making the active roster. I put forth that Calhoun could be used a lot like Faulk was in STL because he has a similar skill set to Faulk - but was very careful to put forth the caveat that I wasn't saying his production would be like Faulk's because I knew some people would immediately make that jump even though I didn't say it. Calhoun showed in college that he could take a ton of work, he runs low & hard and has good burst through the hole, has homerun speed in the open field, and he catches very well out of the backfield. Martz has shown before that he has little patience for unproductive RBs, when Faulk was hurt in STL he had no problem juggling Lamar Gordon & Arlen Harris with a very quick trigger finger when one or the other didn't produce in place of Faulk. IF K Jones doesn't produce quickly - and right now he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire in the DET backfield, I imagine it won't take long for Martz to start looking for a replacement. If that's the case, Calhoun is in line for some work - and sometimes all it takes is an opportunity in the right place. Right now Harris is the right guy to back up Jones. But knowing Mad Mikey, that could change as easily as the weather in DET. Calhoun could still be a factor in the DET O if it stumbles out of the blocks. I'm certainly not going to give up on him in a dynasty league, but in a redraft unless you have very deep rosters, Calhoun probably belongs in the waiver pool right now. I loved Calhoun in college and I'm not disagreeing with anything you are saying BB but I think Jones is prime for a huge year. I have a lot of faith in him and if he gets some freak injury, then yes, Calhoun should and will make the most of that oppurtunity.
Randall
Brian Calhoun will never be another Marshall Faulk thats for sure....KJ will be the man this year Yeah sure. KJ will be the man all year. I thought that last year. Arlen Harris is one of Martz's guys and probably the mn when KJ goes down. Calhoun is intriguing though.
