LooGie
Just curious if anyone caught the Smitty interview on sirius where he seemed very mature, and said he wanted to step back from TD celebrations. He said something like "Marvin Harrison and Barry Sanders will never be remembered for what they did after they got in the end zone, only what they did to get there" or something like that. You get the jist. He also said if he happens to make the hall of fame, would he be remembered "as a butehole" and his kid is 9 and how can he tell his son not to act like a fool when "daddy's out doing the same" Much more mature Smitty. I looks like Super Bowl is on the teams mind and J. Fox appears to have a strangle hold on the 06 Panther's focus. Although Smitty could've just been depressed that he had just tweaked his hammy. The interview was directly after practice... I swear to god if he had wore the Lance Armstrong suit, he'd be the next Jim Carrey.

I can't believe a WR said all that. A highly talented one no less. Not like it's exactly uppermost on his list of concerns but my respect for this guy (assuming he meant it and follows through) just shot up about 10,000%. Raider.Nation
If he wants to make the money that CJ does he'll do the damned dance. T.O. & CJ get the endorsements because of their notariety around the league. I've never seen Marvin Harrison doing an ad for EA or for ABC. Why is that? Because the guy is boring! Talented. But football talent doesn't sell a product...
Randall
I have no problem with quality celebrations or with players who grow out of them. Chad is very funny and does a good job. Did anyone see a few years ago where Barlow scored and gave the ball to his offensive lineman and told him to spike the ball. He kept showing him how to spike it but the lineman(I don't remember who it was) just kept staring at him. Hilarious. If he wants to make the money that CJ does he'll do the damned dance. But football talent doesn't sell a product... Being a top scorer doesn't bring opportunities? If Smith is top 3 without dancing he can't do endoresements? Some players just don't want to do them. That's their choice. Edited September 7, 2006 by Randall

Spartans91
Jabar Gaffney was also heard this week making the same point. He too will avoid excessive celebrations following his touchdown receptions in the future...during the next NFL Europe season.
