alexgaddis
By Dave Richard Senior Fantasy Writer Covering Football Unless you're drafting at the last possible minute, chances are you already have a Fantasy roster in place. You know who your starters are, you know who your backups are, and you're counting down the hours until the NFL season starts. However, unless you've followed the following checklist, you're not ready to roll. 1. Is your team as good as it could be? Maybe a few players went undrafted your league that have since become starters. Look for players on the waiver wire like Wali Lundy, Greg Jennings and Ben Watson -- quality players who have had a strong preseason that are now starters who will see plenty of playing time. 2. Could you make a trade? Some owners in your league could already be hurting at certain positions and need to fill a hole before the season starts. Anyone who drafted Domanick Davis will need a running back to replace him. Other would-be starters who might miss the first week of the season include Cedric Benson and Terrell Owens. If you're deep at a certain position, make a trade offer to help an owner out -- and to help yourself. 3. Have you planned for your first bye week? You may not realize it yet, but if LaMont Jordan and Julius Jones are your starting tailbacks, you're going to lose in Week 3 because both are on bye. If you've got a bye-week dilemma in Week 7 or later, put it on hold; otherwise, make a move now to have a contingency plan for when your stars take a seat. 4. Is your lineup ready to go? The NFL action is a week away -- maybe that receiver you picked in the middle rounds has a bad matchup and needs to be replaced. It's OK to do this with anyone on your team except your studs -- playing the matchups and setting a solid lineup is half the secret to winning in Fantasy Football. If you follow this list, you'll be on your way to having a good start to your Fantasy season. Remember, starting 2-0 is better than starting 0-2, so get yourself ready for the year ahead. Gee, thanks Dave...where would I be without you!
MrTed46
Is starting 1-1 better than going 2-0? Dave didn't specify

Randall
Are Onterrio Smith, Ricky Williams and Jimmy Smith in your lineup? Make sure retired and suspended players are traded to other idiots in your league.

I'll go ahead and trade Chad Johnson for Thomas Jones so that I can take care of that bye-week issue!

49erAddict-08
"It should do great in the red states." Could you explain what you mean by this. Are you saying we spend a lot of money in red states? If so, I take offense to that.

Spartans91
This is just the kind of mindless drivel that I hope to bring to light, expose for what it is, and poke fun at a bit on my new blog (link below). It continues to amaze me that 1) The major media cannot get real legitimate FF coverage and 2) that some of these jokers make a living writing useless pieces like this one.
