Deacon
If Brown owners should be concerned, what about Parker? Two times at the goal line -- pass to Ward; Batch fumble and PARKER WAS NOT IN THE GAME. And that looked like a running play to me Was Haynes in when the pass was thrown to Ward? Anyway, after the first game it looks like the talk about Parker being the goal line guy was ..... just talk.
chiefjay
I'm not a Parker owner but wish I was but realistically did not have a shot at him in any of my drafts. I think the 2nd goal line situation he was probably a bit winded but that said I thought Cowher should have given him that carry considering the momentum they had with the running game at that time. I think you guys are safe and looking at a nice season for WP.

The pass to Ward was from the 8, not the goal line...and FWP had a nice run to get them to that spot. As far as the fumble goes on the only play from the goal line, I was concerned myself but a couple of guys on the board pointed out that he was winded and came out...not because Cowher wanted to put someone else in. As far as being concerned...NO, why would I be? The man had 31 touches for nearly 130 combined yards againse a D that was stacked and designed to stop him....how can any FWP owner be concerned??? Spartans91
32 touches and over 130 yards against a good D. Worried would not exactly be the word.
chinatown dragons
Brown owners concerned??? one of the best D's....scores two tds...yes, yardage was limited, but Miami did not necessarily pound the ball....He goes against Buffalo.....Tenn....Houston in next 3 weeks...! I'm not sure if Parker was in on the TD pass to Ward, but, it was completely clear that Parker took himself out on the play from the one. He had carreid the ball several times in a row and needed a breather. He pointed to himself, asking for someone to come in and replace him. Even though he didn't have a hugh fantasy day, I am more confident after what I saw last night. Those were tough circumstances to run in. With Roethlisberger out, the Dolphins were putting 8 & 9 guys in the box to try to take away the run and make Batch beat them. Parker still was able to put up decent numbers. When Ben is back, he will probably get less carries, but, have more room to run and will be more involved in the passing game. The great thing about him, is he can being doing nothing and then break a big one. Willie Parker owners are going to be very happy this season, imho. MrTed46
I wouldn't be concerned as a Parker owner. This guy had the ability to break a long one everytime he touches the ball. I am going to be honest, I didn't want him in any draft because I didn't have faith. I saw him run against the Fins and he impressed me alot. I would be concerned that MOST of the 3rd downs he came out. But He will get his touches/yards.

The one negative on him that WILL NOT change, is that he will be coming out on most 3rd downs for Verron Haynes. Cowher has always used a designated 3rd down back, and I don't see him changing that approach after 15 years.
PaulOttCarruth
My big concern about Parker coming into the game was whether Cowher would use him as a workhorse and give him 20+ carries. I had a suspicion that they'd give him a lighter workload. Fortunately, I was proven wrong. Willie looks like the real deal. No RBBC in the 'burgh. ROCKNE
I wish I had been able to nab Parker. I had him last year. The one thing that would bother me though was he asked to be taken out with the ball sitting on the one yard line! What RB does that? I did not like that either at the time but from what others have said was that he carried several times in a row and needed a breather...me personally, if I dragged my team down the field, I want to get the rock in the end zone myself. I took Parker in the early 3rd round, assuming that he might lose some goal-line carries and basically relying on consistent yardage from him to be a decent RB #2. After watching last night's game, it looks like I might get more than I expected. He looked very good against a solid Dolphins front 7 that was often bringing a safety up into the box because of Batch.

I think Parker went later than he should have in a lot of drafts.
Coffeeman
Nope, not worried about my RB2. His reps will go down a bit with a healthier Ward and Big Ben's return, and he showed a new side last night: running between the tackles for 3-4 yards when necessary. Got the tough ones (moved the chains) on 3rd and 4th a few times too. its all good...
Sugar Magnolia
In two of my leagues I passed on McGahee and went with Parker. I don't know why I did it, it was just a gut, that since the drafts, I have regretted my decision. I hope my gut was right, but too early to tell. Both were available in early to mid second roundish. In one league I have Parker, Miller and Pitt D. Too many eggs in one team basket for my comfort level IMO, even for Super Bowl Champs. Plus, I currently only have one D and TE, so I have bye week issues in week 4 coming up. I have been turned down for the following trades (before last night's game). Pitt D for Car. D, Pitt D for Indy D, and Leftwich, Miller and Pitt D, for Warner, Watson, and Seattle D. I won't trade Parker though.
gasface
parker was never supposed to be goaline. why the suprise?
Jolly Rodgers
Did everyone not see Parker take HIMSELF out of the game on that goal line play? He basically marched the team down there himself then needed to breather. No, I am not worried.

Bill Swerski
In two of my leagues I passed on McGahee and went with Parker. I don't know why I did it Probably because the Steelers have enough offensive talent to keep 8 men out of the box on every down and enough defensive talent to ensure that Parker gets ample carries in the second half. McGahee may be a more-talented back than Parker, but Willie is in a much, much better situation.

piratesownninjas
if there from the 5 to 10 yard line, chances are that its going to Ward or Heath Miller.
Gunther
if there from the 5 to 10 yard line, chances are that its going to Ward or Heath Miller. Same thoughts I have, but time will tell to see how this works out with FWP at the GL. But, at this point, I'm certainly not worried being a FWP owner myself.
