Savage Beatings
Is it a league rule that the holder of a Field Goal attempt, set the ball exactly 7 yards back from the line of scrimmage? What would happen if the holder set the ball a yard closer or a yard further away? Would that be a penalty of some sort?
Monk
For long field goals (ie: >50 yards), they'll often set it more than 7 yards back as they kick at a different angle and need the ball to get more elevation before it gets to the line of scrimmage. IMO - don't believe there's a rule.
Vet
You can put the ball wherever you want, there is no rule governing the position of the spot.

Then I assume that the official length of the field goal always gets measured from that spot, right... regardless of where the line of scrimmage is?
