msaint
$ aside, i think this blows, honestly. branch was great citizen, hard worker and an underrated WR who always seemed ot come through (aside from minor injuries). guess we have to trust belichick and pioli at this point, but shame to lose a guy like that. it just got too ugly to resolve, and in this day and ager i guess we can't push the $ factor aside. they simply didn't think he was worth it. i will say that hasselbeck and the hawks fans are going to like this guy. he'll have something to prove, and SEA now has a pretty d*mn formidable WR corps, assuming djax's knee is ok. Sgt. Ryan
ESPN Dan Patrick just confirmed this. Branch traded for next yrs #1 pick.

Sgt. Ryan
A 1st rounder? Why do teams help the Patriots stay dominant. Um, that 1st rounder wont be very high, and New England is likely to draft another TE anyway.
junebugz
A 1st rounder? Why do teams help the Patriots stay dominant. The barely beat Buffalo at home yesterday ... not exactly dominant IMO but point valid nonetheless. By the time the Seahawks traded pick comes along though it will be closer to the second round at least.

wildcat2334
I love it as a Sea homer- Branch gives the WR crew some explosion- I think he is worth a #1 rd pick- especially since Sea is in a win now mode- Great pickup. 3 WR set- DJax, Branch, Burleson- very nice
Bill Swerski
I'm surprised that Belichick didn't ask for Engram. He appears to be the odd man out here.

Vet
Seems like a fair deal to me. I have to assume the Seahawks' pick will be fairly late in the first round. If you can get a WR that has had some success in the NFL for a late first-round pick (let's say in the 25-32 range), I think you have to do it. The Seahawks are a "win now" organization, so this deal makes sense for them. I posted here before that the Jets should not give up more than a 2nd round pick for Branch. But, given the Jets prospects, that would probably be in the 33-38 overall slot. So, the Seahawks are no significantly overpaying (in my opinion) for Branch. thecerwin
They will still need more than that to compete with the Rams!

They lost their opener last year and looked just as bad on offense then too. Atleast they won this game. The Lions do look better... on defense.
