Big Score 1
Jerry Porter, OAK Sep. 12 - 1:49 am etJerry Porter was reportedly "seen laughing and pumping his fist along the bench when (Aaron) Brooks was sacked a seventh time" Monday night. Porter, who was inactive for the contest, can't be in the Raiders' plans for this season. He probably hasn't been traded or released only because of the large cap hit Oakland would take as a result. Source: San Francisco Chronicle From his actions described above, it doesn't look like he's any great hurry to get back on the field. PaulOttCarruth
Based on his actions this past week, I'm dropping him in the league I own him in. From what I've read, the Raiders will probably take too big of a cap hit to cut him or trade him. I think they'll give him the Keyshawn/TO treatment and just de-activate him for the season (which is probably what he wants anyway). Punk. Big Score 1
I think they'll give him the Keyshawn/TO treatment and just de-activate him for the season With the new CBA, teams can no longer do that.
PaulOttCarruth
With the new CBA, teams can no longer do that. I didn't hear that. So even if he's inactive for every game, there's nothing they can do to prevent him from coming to the games?

So even if he's inactive for every game, there's nothing they can do to prevent him from coming to the games? Not sure about that. I just know, as provided by the new CBA, they can't deactivate him for the rest of the year. It's called the T.O. clause ala what happened to him last year with the Eagles. ElevensBoys
Porter has been a huge disappoint since he entered the league! Friggin guy will go 3-4 weeks without doing a damn thing and then have a 7 catch 100 yd 1 TD day and then disappear again. YES, I had that piece of crap on my team for 2 years and finally cut him lose. Forget about him.
Bronco Billy
Geez, give Porter a break. He's got one less catch than the current #2 WR & #3 WR, and only 47 yards less than receiving leader Randy Moss. He's putting up respectable numbers for an OAK WR while he's not playing... PaulOttCarruth
-- Porter's Season Finished? -- Tue Sep 12, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com The San Francisco Chronicle reports Raiders WR Jerry Porter's season essentially ended Monday evening. It appears that Porter is going to spend what looks like the entire season as what the hockey folks like to call "a healthy scratch," which means he could play, but he isn't going to. PaulOttCarruth
Or not... WEEI in Boston's Jon Meterparel reported Tuesday that the Patriots are close acquiring Raiders WR Jerry Porter, but other sources including NFL.com's Pat Kirwan have dismissed the claim.
