makes sense. although it i were the titans, i think losing games will benefit them more than winning them at this point.

Volek to the Chargers?

<Sep. 13> ESPN's Chris Mortensen suggests Volek should pack an extra bag or two when the Titans visit the Chargers this Sunday. He might be staying awhile.

Sources on both teams indicate that the Titans wanted to get this game out of the way before proceeding with a trade that would send the quarterback to the Chargers.

Volek began training camp as the Titans' starter, but was the team's No. 3 quarterback in Week 1. Titans coach Jeff Fisher reiterated that recently signed Kerry Collins will remain the starter with rookie Vince Young as the backup. ma

If this is true will Volek start or backup Rivers?

You are not serious.

This is Rivers' team. He knows the offense. Voleck is quality vet backup in a new location!

Volek would be a great backup to Phillip Rivers. The veteran presence would be a welcome addiition. I'd definitely feel more comfortable with Volek as the no. 2 QB than the rookie Whitehurst.

I couldn't agree more!! :D

Hey! Whitehurst could be the second coming of Peyton Manning. If we can use his college career as a barometer he DEFINTELY will.

This is why:

He knows how to choke when the pressure is on.

i thought volek would be on a plane to KC before green's head finished bouncing on the ground. SD is surprising.

Could be a great insurance pickup for SD, but I agree -- its surprising that KC didn't snag him, but the again, I can't figure out why he's not starting in Tenn ...

Volek has NO SHOT at taking the job from Rivers. Good backup and nothing more.

Even though Rivers only threw the ball 11 times last week, he was brilliant nontheless. He threw ALL THE throws in his short time. He threw an out, he showed masterful touch on a swing pass, and also hit Parker (I think it was Parker) on a long bomb and even gave his one of his horses (Gates) a little goal line gravy.

Rivers is a better QB than Brees, but he's still inexperienced. I expect the Chargers will run LT into the dirt for a few weeks and then slowly un-bridle Rivers...at that point it will become a more balanced offense, making them even more dangerous and a potential Super Bowl contender, even with a new man calling the signals.
