matt770
Wondering what you guys think of Gerald Hayes. I'd expect more tackles from a MLB but he's made some plays -- 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 PD, 1 INT in 2 games. Is he just an average tackler who got lucky with some big plays or would you expect better tackle numbers going forward? Seems odd that an MLB is available in my league and I'd consider him as bye week filler. My other choices are: C. Emmons, Thomas Howard -- nice tackle numbers thus far A. Crowell -- big game last week Bart Scott -- can THREE Raven LBs be worthwhile starters? He already has 3 sacks, expect this to continue? 1 pt solo/pd, 2 pt sack/ff, 3 pt INT/FR, 0 pt assist. Thanks for any advice.
darin3
I think Howard may be your best bet, with Hayes a very close second. I'm not big on Crowell or Scott. Emmons is a nice sleeper in deeper leagues but I think Howard or Hayes offer far more upside. Edit: Gave it a bit more thought... I would probably give Crowell a shot. Yeah, Fletcher and Spikes are there, but Crowell makes some plays. 16 tackles, a sack and an INT thus far. I still like Howard a lot, and Hayes has some value too. So, I'd rank 'em: 1. Crowell 2. Howard (with big time upside) 3. Hayes (with just a bit of upside) 4. Emmons 5. Scott Edited September 21, 2006 by darin3
Runner
I'd take Hayes over them all. The tackles will come. He's a MLB in a 4/3. I'd take him anyday over the others. Crowell is the WLB and stays on the field for 3rd downs. He'd be second.
TheShiznit
I agree with Crowell being the top choice here. He was good enough to boot Spikes to the Strongside....he must be good enough to get Spikes' numbers he used to get. But I like Thomas Howard as well. Don't forget, Howard plays on the special teams coverage teams and gets a couple of tackles there as well as starts on the weakside and plays third downs. the only problem with Hayes is Dansby. He was supposed to be the starting MLB before he hurt his little toe...wasn't he?? Also, Adalius Thomas played the Raiders. Look what Merriman did to the Raiders. Bart Scott played very well for Ray Ray last year...he should be a solid fourth starter this year. I go: 1.) Crowell 2.) Howard 3.) Scott/Hayes. If it is definite Hayes will keep his job all year, then he is number two. My two cents.
