Worse still for the Taylor owners out there is that in a tight game, the Jags appear to have COMPLETE confidence in him, even leaving him in to block on obvious passing downs, and he just caught a touchdown pass! I could see both Taylor and Jones-Drew having value if JAX runs the ball more this season. Jones-Drew seems to be a good receiver. STL Fan Posted September 24, 2006 Author Share Posted September 24, 2006 Two reasons I didn't already own him 1 - 8-team league, so lots of starters on my roster, with Portis and McGahee probably my 1 and 2 backs 2 - I tend to only handcuff a guy with a PROVEN backup. Someone you have seen run the ball fairly extensively and that the team will plug in with no change to the offense. I'm not sure Jones-Drew fits that description. At least, not until today... I didn't realize at the draft that this guy is only 5'6" tall. They said there has never been an NFL starting RB that short. He looked great catching the ball as well as in the return game. If the Jags had a quarterback, instead of trying to hide Lefty's accuracy and touch problems, they probably would have won today. And Indy has a good-tackling defense but that guy has great balance. As for the comments on College Football - No team at my college + no local team = very little interest in college football. Wow. That sounds like nothin' but hatin'. The only significant issue Leftwich has is staying healthy. If you did, you saw how scared the Jags were to throw the ball today. All his receivers are 6'4" or taller, and all the Colts starting DB's are under 6'. And they were missing their best one, Bob Sanders. Leftwich had adequate protection today. He underthrew several passes, two of which were picked off, two more were dropped by the Colts.
