Just heard on the local sports tonight that strong safety Terrence Kiel was arrested for "possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell". It just keeps getting worse and worse for the Bolts "D"!! :D:D

I heard that the cops came onto the field in the middle of practice & cuffed him on the spot.

I guess he couldn't get by making only $.5M a year.

:D:D

I am not sure because there are no details, but my feeling is that it is probably pharms and not street drugs. I'm thinking roids, not that that is any better  . We'll see.

He made bail and will probably play this weekend.

There was a big battle during training camp to see if Kiel or Jue was going to start. McCree is the glue to the DBs and he would be the bigger loss.

Since McCree plays both weak and strong safety eaqually well, there sould not be as much of a drop off as some of you may fear. Kiel was better run support and Jue was better in coverage. The decision to start kiel was made more to protect McCree from run support and keep him fresher during the season.

I do not want to sugar coat this since obviously it is different that what the Chargers decided what was best at the start of the season.

But to say this is devestating or a "big blow"??? No! Slight set-back and it effects the bench depth more than on-field reality. There should not be much of a difference in production and maybe slightly better pass protection.

Very true about McCree being the catalyst of the DB's, but the Bolt defensive backfield can't afford to take any more hits to its starters if, indeed, Kiel ends up on the bench, or worse, in jail!! :D

Not roids, but it was a pharm.

“It goes right to the heart of what really is fueling an already out-of-control, raging fire of abuse of pharmaceutical drugs,” Fernandes said.

:D to article!

What I would like to know is how much of this stuff he was moving. Under the current guidelines, what they have shown is minimal time. And the money is peanuts compared to his half million salary.

The articel says he admitted to financial dificulty. Considering the small return per event, I would imagine that he is being used for his name to get this stuff.

This is what happens when you give young men lots of money and don't give them the tools to administer it properly! I don't think Kiel is the typical scumbag. I think he is in over his head and did not see the "big deal" moving some cough medicine. It is illegal and he needs to face up, but I am sure he didn't realize how "bad" this was. If he had a pre-disposition to doing this type of stuff, I am sure he would have moved into the much more lucrative illicit drug trade.

This, makes no sense. But he broke the law and should pay. I also know that because of who he is, this is going to get more attention the the 1000 other dirtbags doing much worse in San Diego. Sad but true, sexy means more press, more press means more money in next year's budget!

Alright, it just got worse for the Bolts!!! Jue is out with arthroscopic knee surgery.

Chargers SS Jue has knee surgery

NFL.com wire reports

SAN DIEGO (Sept. 27, 2006) -- It turns out that the San Diego Chargers lost two safeties in one day.

While fielding questions about strong safety Terrence Kiel's arrest on five felony drug counts, coach Marty Schottenheimer let on that backup free safety Bhawoh Jue would miss this weekend's game because he had arthroscopic knee surgery.

It was the first word from the team about the surgery.

Asked at a news conference whether Clinton Hart or Jue would replace Kiel for the game at Baltimore, Schottenheimer said: "I think I made the statement yesterday that Bhawoh Jue wasn't going to be available because of injury. So at that point the expectation is that Clinton Hart will play."

The mention of Jue's injury was news to reporters. Pressed on Jue, the coach said: "Bhawoh Jue at this point has had surgery on his knee."

Schottenheimer bristled when asked if Jue could be expected to miss two to four weeks.

"I wouldn't want to play doctor in this regard," he said, telling reporters that if they wanted any more information, they could get it from team spokesman Bill Johnston.

Johnston said Jue had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will be re-evaluated next week.

Kiel was called off the practice field after authorities arrived at Chargers headquarters. Kiel was taken into the locker room where he was arrested. Kiel was jailed and released. He won't play.

The Chargers said nothing about Kiel's arrest after practice on Sept. 26.

"From my perspective, when I was asked the question about who didn't practice, I was thinking injured guys," Schottenheimer said. "I wasn't considering that, to be very candid with you."

The Chargers did announce that safety Andre Lott had been re-signed to the active roster after being released during the final cutdown to reach the 53-man roster limit.

I havent read anything regarding steriods. This issue is with cough syrup, or better known as lean to us folks in Texas. The cough syrup contains codein which is a narcotic. The DEA has been cracking down on this type of activity in Texas the last couple of years. Sippin lean is the thing to do down south.
