marti332
So I'm in a league where the early returns suggest a 3 team race (glad to be one of the three). My primary opponent of concern (beat me by <10 points last week, while my LT2 horse was on bye) is about to get Lamont Jordan for Fred Taylor. My thought is that I'm just bitter, but there's a tiny (probably jealous) part of me that thinks that this is just ri-g.d.-diculous, and wants to pitch a fit to the commish. I'm just curious what other Huddlers think. Feel free to yell at me, if that's your gut instinct.

I'm not sure I understand.Taylor for Jordan seems very reasonable. If I had Jordan and needed RB help I'd trade him for Fred.If I had Fred and could stash Jordan and wait to see if he breaks out I'd do it. Deacon
... the early returns suggest a 3 team race (glad to be one of the three ..... about to get Lamont Jordan for Fred Taylor Not going to yell, but isn't it a bit early to know it's a "3 team race" AND I'm afraid that I don't see this trade as very much out of line. That's cool, my thought is that trading an injury prone and likely to be splitting carries back for a guy who is a legit #1 back (albeit on a crappy team) makes me salivate. And jealous I didn't think of it first. But I also realize that maybe I'm being paranoid, and maybe I'm undervaluing Taylor. And if that's the case, then I'm happy to be smacked upside the head by other Huddlers, whose opinions I respect. And yes, it's early to say it's a three team race (and tempting awful wrath), and I can't fully explain without posting other folk's rosters, but I'm in a league where Chicago's defense went before Brian Westbrook. I'm not trying to sound like an ass by that statement. Just my gut, based on draft and first three weeks.

And you probably do know your league -- but I wouldn't panic -- this may turn out great for you if Jordan becomes more and more of an afterthought as the Raiders fall further and further behind each game. And .. I'm not sure if this was a "Huddle" prediction or not, but I've read a lot concerning Jordan that the new scheme in Oakland wouldn't see him putting up nearly the receiving yardage as he had last year. And don't undervalue Taylor .. especially if he's not being relied upon as a #1 fantasy rb. We'll probably know more after seeing what Oakland does this weeend. Primetime9287
You're one of the owners that make having the league vote on trades stupid because if you think this trade is unfair, you would probably vote that way for just about any trade not involving your team. Taylor had problems early in his career, but if I have it right he hasn't missed a game in 5 seasons. On the Sunday night game they were talking about where Taylor ranked in all time yardage. I don't remember for sure, but I think they said fifth. Remove the tag!

Jolly Rodgers
To answer your topic title; No, I can't make you feel better about this. However, if you only lost by 10 points to your closest competition and you had LT2 on the bench, you can feel better about that.....Oh and trades should not be veto'd unless the two owners are sleeping together. More than a fair response, considering how unclear I have been. I do think this trade is unfair, in the sense that I think getting LJ for Fragile Fred is a steal, especially in the wake of Jones-Drew. However, I don't know when to lady dog. This is my first time in a money league (played in a couple free leagues last season). I meant to pose a question (out of frustration, and as I admitted previously, jealousy to an extent) wherein I knew I was to get hammered by Huddlers, rather than be "that guy" in my actual league. Thanks to everyone for calling me out. Although, in my own defense, and in interest of full disclosure, I haven't ever been concerned with other team's trades before. This is the first time I've looked and even had a doubt about a trade. Should have been more clear that this was more of an etiquette/"I'm a dumb@$#^, right?" question. Thanks again. MERLINS
Generally speaking, any team that has LT on it is usually in the top 3 in the league. I think I would rather have FT over LJ at this point.
becochran
So I'm in a league where the early returns suggest a 3 team race (glad to be one of the three). you're 3 weeks into the season...period. If LT blows out his knee everything changes.
DemonKnight
I'd tak Fred Taylor over Lamont Jordan right now. Theres something to be said about having a short filed provided by that 'D.
Donutrun Jellies
Time to give up on those preseason magazine cheat sheets and look at what's actually happening on the field ... Sure, Jordan looked promising -- but now he'll be lucky to break 1000 yards because he's trapped in a world of 3andout ... while FTaylor is a starting back on a team that doesn't mind running the ball and he is healthy and productive. Could both situations change? Yep. But for now, it's a great trade.

Exactly. I'm 3-0 and one league, but don't have a great team and may be 3-3 soon. In another I'm 1-2 and the 2nd highest scorer and may be 4-2 just as soon and a contender. Perhaps he knows these 3 teams have the best players, but still it's too early. This is a violent game and anything can happen.

I was going to be more caustic but you seemed to have accepted abuse well instead of how most take it of late. Therefore, my advice to you, never, ever, ever complain about any trade unless you strongly suspect collusion. Let me put it to you this way...suppose you are the master trader. you make a deal that is very lobsided in your favor. you do it fairly but it's still lobsided in your favor. The owner who you took advantage of clearly feels he has improved his team. Do you feel the other owners should be able to veto your trade? Did you cheat? No, you simply sent hershell walker to minnesota for 50 draft choices. Every team should be able to manage their team as they see fit, so long as collusion is not suspected. Live by this. I am wise. I'm Rick James Bitch
Why would you pitch a fit? The trade has no signs of colusion so you have no reason whatsoever to cry foul. Even if the trade was way way unfair, it's still not up to the commish to keep teams from making foolish trades. You have LT and both those players will be borderline contributers so don't worry about it. If you say anything to the commish then I think your a lady dog!
