Randall
Published Sat Oct 7 3:10:00 p.m. ET 2006 (KFFL) Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns WR Braylon Edwards is planning to humiliate Carolina Panthers CB Chris Gamble during the Week 5 game. The Michigan receiver caught seven passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns against Gamble, a cornerback with Ohio State, the last time they played against each other in 2003. Edwards also caught an 87-yard touchdown pass that was nullified by a holding call. The two came to blows in the first half of the game and Edwards drew Gamble into a personal foul penalty. "I destroyed Gamble every time I played him. If he happens to match up on me, I'll treat him just like I treat anybody else - I'm going to try and destroy him. I know Chris Gamble like the back of my hand. They matched him up on me both years and I know him probably better than anybody in this league," said Edwards. Flip_Side
If he happens to match up on me, I'll treat him just like I treat anybody else If? Is Gamble for sure going to be covering Edwards tomorrow? This really might help my decision because I was questioning whether to start him or Jennings. PSULions
Gamble was a WR at OSU and they converted him to CB. He's still learning... let me clarify. Tressel converted him to CB I was going to post the same thing. He had two years as a WR until he moved to cornerback. The Panthers were able to land him at #29 trading up to get him in the 1st (#31 to #29). He has learned well and is a very good CB now. Edwards is a very good WR, but I think Gamble will do well against him tomorrow. I will be at the game and I will see how Gamble does against Edwards. Hopefully, my Panthers will play their best game of the season and take care of business tomorrow. Chris Gamble = overrated Not sure how you can say he was overrated with 68 and 65 solo tackles and 6 and 7 picks in his first two years as a starter in the NFL. I don't think he gets enough credit for his play at CB.
loyalboyd
Well this will be for some hellva bragging rights. And I think Gamble will blanket Edwards. He has learned from some good CBs and played against some top flight WRs in two yrs. And better yet the D system he is in will help him the most. No way I start Edwards. But Winslow hell yeah I would start him against those LB's. Ray Lewis and his boys could cover him up. And for me thats enough said.
LooGie
I would put Gamble and/or Lucas 1 on 1 with ANY WR in the entire NFL. They are by far the best CB duo in the entire league, and powerful by themselves. (I'm just glad Smitty is on their team ) I gotta say, I like Edwards after hearing this. I love it when players have the bolls to talk smack before a game. If he can beat Gamble, he can't beat Lucas, but I'm sure Fox will let Gamble prove himself tomorrow. Can't wait for this game. Randall
According to Top Plays Gamble will be locked up on Edwards. We'll see how it works out. I was going to post the same thing. I am hoping today is the day they get back on track.
