muck
well that year peyton threw for 49 would proabally blow everyone out of the water, but best ever id have to say dick vermeil's faulk or holmes, vermeil was a genious and those rbs would easily get 2-3 tds a game and 150+ total yards a game, i was never lucky enough to own them in their prime. Hello! "easily get 2-3 tds a game" = 32-48 TDs / season I don't recall any RB getting 32-48 TDs in a season ... do you?
hollywood_69
it seemd like nothing for those guys to always pile up the stats!! what was the record? 26? not to far off from 32, jackass, from a rb. and faulk did the same thing.

Obviously not. Peyton would have to rank 1 or 2. Until this year.

nuke'em ttg
Marino is what the early guys talk about & Faulk when i hit the scene although Peyton has been a driving force in a local td league with bonus yards.........

Well, then maybe you should have said 1-2 TDs / game, instead. 1-2 TDs / game = reality 2-3 TDs / game = hyperbole
doobwaa
those few years Emitt had were pretty amazing....tho Jerry Rice would have to be th ebest.
muck
I think the "best" fantasy footballer isn't determined in terms of absolute production but vs. the average of the other players at their position at the time they played. Essentially a VBD approach. ...which means that Jim Brown is (probably) so far out in front of the other RBs from his era that it doesn't make any sense to really discuss it... Randall
Steve Young use to really roll up some points in the day Did they have FF when Jim Brown played (I don't remember anyone talking about that) Or Don Hutson? He was listed too.

If you take out the years in Oakland, and maybe his last year or two in SF, and just look at the bulk of his career, say from 86-96, he is far and away the best, imo. I remember about five years straight where he was the number one pick evey year. Edited October 11, 2006 by Bring Back Pat!!!

jackshi17
Jim Thorpe but you have to include his statistics on defense and in the extra points/field goals along with the rushing. He would win hands down.
