What's with all the hamstring injuries?

Maybe it's just me, but what's the deal with all the hamstring inuries this year? I know it's a common football injury, but it sure seems to me that occurrence of this injury is way up this year.

I'm not a doctor (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night), so I wonder, are these avoidable inuries? Is it a matter of better stretching? Better hydration? I dunno, I'm asking.

Just seems like everytime I see an injury update, a great majority are hamstring-related and it seems waaay up from year's past. Anyone else think they're up or is it just me?

Yeah, I think they are about the same as always, but there has been some higher profile guys with them (ie. Steve Smith). Usually it is all the rookies getting hamstring strains.

I had a customer today that is some kind of sports medicine doctor. He said something about how the human structure isn't meant to be pushed in terms of size and speed as hard as athletes today are pushing it. Hamstrings, tendons, and ligaments are being injured at a 5% higher clip than they were just five years ago. Now, this may be due to reporting of these numbers, but his theory seems from the untrained ear to make sense.

We will push the limits of the human body until we can force it to evolve. X-men... unite!!!
