Brentastic
I know the rumors have been going around for the last week or so, but today CBS has offered another notice: Numerous published sources have linked Randy Moss' name in trade talks with teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots. Savage Beatings
When is the trade deadline again? Maybe just the faint hope of possibly playing for a different team will motivate Randy to play hard this week in order to showcase himself. Whiskey Pimp
Come on Pats. I want to see Moss play on MNF Oct 30th back in the Metrodome.
junebugz
Come on Pats. I want to see Moss play on MNF Oct 30th back in the Metrodome. That would be good for Brady. I say it's a done deal.
yo mama
FYI, from the newsbreakers in my ESPN league... Despite rumors that have been circulating leading up to Tuesday's trade deadline, the Raiders, sources say, have not received a single phone call about Moss, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Spin: Teammate Jerry Porter has also been mentioned as a player the Raiders may try to move, but despite rumblings that teams such as the Steelers, Jaguars and Patriots may have interest in Moss, no deal appears imminent. Skippy
I don't believe that Moss even wants to play this game anymore. I have heard all the Pittsburgh stuff with names like Joey Porter tossed into the rumors but I just can't see it at all. Having said that, I would love to see the Steelers go out and find a decent WR. These guys, Steeler WR's, are playing like s hit right now. Even Quincy Morgan would look good right about now. Big Score 1
So CBS starts their piece with this.... Numerous published sources......and I am to put stock in that? Besides, the "Numerous published sources" is PFT's Rumor Mill, who in turn quotes their source as being a "league source". Could it get anymore ambiguous? Art Shell's office...phone ringing: Art: "This is Shell of a Coach...hehe...I just love saying that...can I help you?" Caller: "Say homie, wat ju want for the phreak?" Art: "What?" Caller: "Wat ju want for the phreak?" Art: "I'm sorry, you must have the wrong number"...hanging up Al: "Who was that Art?" Bill Swerski
Come on Pats. I want to see Moss play on MNF Oct 30th back in the Metrodome. If Terry Glenn had too much of an attitude problem for Belichick, there's no way that Moss would work out in NE. Jerry Porter has a better shot of being traded to the Pats. And I don't see Randy going to PIT, either. He's not going to catch 7 or 8 passes per game in that offense and won't want to run-block. hezagenius
he'll probably end up with the cowboys now that would be awesome. i'd say Parcells would walk out the door in about 5 seconds if Jones did that.

Skippy
Jerry Porter to PIT makes more sense than strippers at a bachelor party, if you ask me. Jerry Porter yes, Randy Moss no. However, the Porter I mentioned was Joey the LB. Talk radio has made mention of hearing that there were talks to send Joey Porter to Oakland for Randy Moss. That I just do not believe. Jerry Porter in a Porter for Porter trade would be a different story.

Glenn's issue was over money, and both he and the Pats took a hard line on it. Dillon's a grouch, but he plays hard on every down. Can't say the same about Randy, and I don't see Belichick putting up with that. Nor do I foresee Randy allowing a coach to tell him what to do. IIRC, Belichick suspended Glenn back in '01 for undisclosed "disciplinary matters" and Glenn basically told him that he wasn't going to play through a hamstring injury until he got a raise. That tells me that Belichick has a very low tolerance for blatant disobedience. If that's the case, Moss will never play for him. charty
I guess the Moss contract got re-worked on the deal to Oakland, but what are the contract details? Besides the attitude issues with Moss, the Patriots just do not value WRs as high as some other teams and they just don't allocate much cap space to the position. I can't see them bringing in a $10M per year receiver (or whatever he makes). Edited October 13, 2006 by charty

I think that's a good point. The Pats werent willing to give in to Branch(whom Brady stood up for and(as far as I know) has no questions regarding his character). I have a hard time seeing the Pats wanting to go that route. I dont see that Cowher and the Steelers would try for him, either. I just dont see that they would feel it is worth the risk of bringing in Randy and his baggage at this time when they really need to come together as a team and get back to their bread and butter(defense and rushing). Jacksonville is interesting. There, Randy could catch passes from a fellow Marshall alum(if that is worth anything) and he would be a little closer to home. Not sure that the Jags would try that or not, but having Moss, Jones(when healthy), Williams and then Taylor and Mo J-D on the field at the same time would present all sorts of matchup problems for the defense. It wouldnt be the worst idea I have ever heard.
