cbs screws up AGAIN

The biggest problem that I have with MFL is that is definately not user friendly, not compared to other services I have used.

I do give them credit for their support - they always reply quick. And the gameday live scoring program is the best live scoring that I have seen.

I don't hate MFL - I just don't think they are the best option out there.

That said, I have my problems with sportsline as well. It seems they go down about 12:30 every Sunday and they never answer e-mails. I stay with them because all of our info is archived.

Has anyone ever used the EA Sports fantasy? If so, how is it?

So... in other words, you're only a serious/good fantasy player if you're on mfl. Uhhh... not. One of the more humorous posts I've read on these boards in a while.

I was referring to McBoog's post which generally was in praise of MFL and the fact that grotesquely untalented FF prognosticators are not tied to it (and therefore your annual fees, BTW). I wasn't referring to you so there's no need to come on all defensive. Run along while the adults discuss football, there's a good little boy.

I think that rest solely on the commishes ability to use what MFL has available. If you have a commish who doesn't want to spend a little time & effort setting up the league page, then yeah, I can see how you would say that. But speaking from experience with multiple leagues, MFL can be extremely user friendly.

And I was referring to McBoog's post as well. I figured you'd get that, but why don't you be my little beeyotch and fetch me a beer. NOW.

Here's the basic problem - you're at a site that has a lot of people, especially the older guys here, who have used mfl.com successfully for years and found it to be a very good product in all facets. Then you decide that you're going to tell everyone that you think mfl.com sucks. It's kind of like wearing a Cowboys' jersey & walking into a Philadelphia bar, standing on the bar stool, and yelling at the top of your lungs that the Eagles suck.

What exactly do you think the results are going to be? Now you've taken the diatribe to the level of challenging various people in the bar to a fight after getting down off the stool.

You don't like mfl.com? That's cool, everyone has their own opinion. But this is definitely the wrong place to say that the service sucks - because a lot of experienced guys here know first hand that you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about.

My advice (not that you're interested): pull up your pants, zip your fly, and move on.

Sure I'm interested. I've been around a while here too and have made the same comments repeatedly. I've said in this post (in case you missed it), that the site isn't bad, just that MFL is NOT the only option. I also never said the service sucks.

:DLiked the service, but not the interface

CBS repairs their website untimely, but they always fix the glitch quickly. This guy is bitching about 15 minutes, which had no effect on his lineup. Go find something else to complain about.

But it's a repeated problem. Just about every week somebody here is complaining about not being able to access the site or some other problem with scoring etc. What's worse is it's usually during gametime. In the years that I have used MFL I can honestly say I can't remember ever having an access problem other than my corporate servers blocking the site and even that was fixable.

Like I said, I like fanball better than mfl, but I agree that cbs sucks. Service sucks, and it's expensive - like double or more any of the other hosting sites people trumpet on these boards.

Our league tried MFL for a year and that was it. My own personal opinion is it's just ugly and the interface is not to my liking. It's an accurate site with good service, etc... but we're on to fanball and like it better, and I mean a lot better.

It's an adequate website, but there are others that are better IMO. In my case and my leagues, fanball.com is much preferred.

True dat.

"Ummmm, what are you talking about? I'm not saying that your wife is ugly, just that she's the second least attractive women in the place."

We got it. You like fanball better than mfl.com.

So...

It's ok to take shots at me for having an opinion and sticking to it, but I defend myself with some shots of my own and I need to pull up my pants and move along?

Sounds about right from some of you.

Jiminy Christmas! No one is saying you can't have an opinion, but don't expect everyone here to agree with it just because you are so sure it is right. You know many here are ver pro-mfl.com. If you want to voice your opinion that mfl.com is merely adequate and there are other services that are vastly superior, you had better damn well expect some contrary opinions. What are you, a Democrat? The First Amendment only goes one way? If you don't want controversial responses, then stop inviting them. If you can deal with the controversy, then stop whining about it.

A bit of selective memory at work here, methinks. Two years ago, MFL had major issues with live scoring at the start of the season and last year there were also similar issues but only for the first week, IIRC. This year there have been no issues at all as far as I know. The point is that MFL had issues and fixed them PERMANENTLY. This isn't the case with CBS or with Yahoo for that matter (anyone who uses the StatTracker for fantasy baseball will be familiar with Yahoo's repetitive problems). Why is this?

The bottom line is that for MFL it is their entire business. Without it they are nothing - they respect their customers, fix problems permanently, develop the product, keep prices low and offer a support service second to none. Contrast this with the giants, for whom FF is just a minor sideline, don't give a crap about their customers, have a glitchy product and underpowered servers, charge the Earth for it and have virtually no support and what they do have is manned by a troop of semi-trained baboons.

If you want something done well, go to a specialist. That's what MFL is.

Look, I have absolutely nothing against mfl. I've tried it myself, but I'm going out of my way some to play devil's advocate on this. Personally I could gve a hoot about what web-service people use, but I also don't care for the lemming aspect that people espouse about one thing or another and I intentionally go the other way - be it mfl vs. other sites, wishing for injuries if it benefits my fantasy team vs. thinking so is wrong - whatever.

Lemmings drive me nuts. Call me a contrarian. I do invite controversy, but it's all in good, anonymous fun. I'm harmless for the most part. So no blood no foul on any of this for my part.

Dear Puppy:

Let me put this into the perspective of a Commish who has done this for over a decade. Back in the day, you used to do it by hand, ALL OF IT! Scoring was kept simple because with today’s scoring systems, you would have to have a doctorate in math and a few free days a week just to get everything done correctly :D .

Once everything was done, then the results would be either hand delivered, faxed or e-Mailed, assuming that you had some GMs that even owned computers :bash: .

Research and draft strategy was left to magazines, newspapers and radio/TV shows and anybody you could suck off :( for some info on the local NFL team, IF you knew someone. You had to WORK to get information on players, coaches and offenses. Fantasy Football was much harder to be good at back then and required much more skill than it does today. I think that is why some of us (and some still do though I do not) considered FF a hobby.

With today’s ease of acquiring information and lack of skill and dedication required to find timely and accurate information, Fantasy Football has turned into a BIG GAME supported by a growing industry. There is NOT the same level of preparation required in today’s game than yesterday’s hobby. The FF players that barely competed back then got much better with the evolution of the “lazy player” web sites.

I have used almost EVERY product out there to run my leagues. From sitting on the oh poopyter on Tuesday morning with the local fish wrap to data base programs that you purchased and then downloaded, for a price, the stats, to the CBS/FanBall/MFL etc (to name only a few) web servers.

Those sites that provide all the perty fluff, are generally, better for lazier and less skilled players that do not either know how or want to find the best sources of information while “playing” fantasy football. They go to the site, see what it says, and robotically put in their weekly roster. All that fluff is a distraction to me! I want a site that is TOTALLY dedicated to my leagues and my team and provides excellent and reliable service and support. I can find all the “fluff” on my own (that is why I come to The Huddle as part of my fluff).

So if you want the hard answer, YES! I think that those other sites are generally more suited to less skilled and less capable players, and I generally am VERY successful in leagues that play in those “fluffy” environments. There are very good players in those leagues, so being a whiney thriller and saying, “…you're only a serious/good fantasy player if you're on mfl…” is very beneath you. I NEVER said that… but, if the shoe fits… :D

MFL provides the ultimate in team and league management/support with excellent service and maximum league adaptability without the distraction of a lot of fluff ;) . They add anything you ask them to, the following year, and because they provide a basic league management system without all the fluff, you get an affordable and flawless Toyota (MFL  ) instead of a fluffy piece of crap like a Sterling (CBS, etc. )

Personally, this post has made me realize that I had more fun and liked Fantasy Football a lot more when The Huddle was free and I had to figure out the weekly league scores and standings while taking my morning dump  ! The "ten minute ticker" had a magic of its own and would shut down a household :bash: while scrolling the bottom of the screen.

Ahhhhh, for the good old days!

edited to add:

The players I got the biggest initial resistance from in my Leagues when we went to MFL, are the less skilled and lazier GMs that did like the one stop shopping. The better players liked MFL immediately!

Uhhh... I think you have me confused with a rookie. I have also commished for many years and also had to manually tabulate things with the USA Today being our "official scoring". So.... I'm not exactly sure how the "puppy" thing applies.

People want to think I'm a yayhoo for not slobbing all over mfl, I guess that's ok by me.
