Ronnie Brown...

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but since Harrington took over at QB, Brown has gone from averaging 5 catches a game, to averaging .5 catches a game. Did the Fins change their game plan or does Harrington just not like to throw to his RBs. I was actually gonna look at his stats in Detroit to see how the RBs did catching the ball with him at QB. Im not really complaining because Ronnie has 2 Rushing TDs in 2 games with Joey, but his game last week vs. NE coulda been a lot better if he had caught his 3-5 balls. Fins homers are more than welcome to chime in...

They seemed very one dimensional in the 4th around the goal line and then finally decided to give Brown the carry and he got in for a TD. They werent down by that much too forget the run all together. Hopefully Brown can get more involved this week.

I love Ronnie Brown and was proud to have drafted him, but I am seriously thinking about dealing him. The Dolphins offensive line stinks, Saban stinks, Harrington stinks and Browns schedule through the end of my season looks like this

Packers (surprisingly decent against the run)

bye

Bears (no way)

Chiefs (good matchup here)

Vikings (nope)

Detroit (they ARE ranked #11 against the run)

Jags (nope)

Patriots (nope)

Bills (good matchup)

Jets (sweet matchup)

The problem with those "sweet" matchups is Brown is NOT guranteed to exploit those matchups. He had 15 rushes against the bills the first time and 12 rushes against the Texans. With Harrington in there he isn't catching the ball anymore and will need to score 1 or 2 TDs (such as he did in his 30 yard rushing effort against Pittsburgh or 1 TD such as his 37 yard effort against New England) to give him even mediocre numbers.

Hate to say this, but I wonder if I can trust him. Another owner has Chester Taylor on the block (he really wants a receiver though) and I may go for that deal and include Brown and a 2nd tier type receiver.

I'm hoping he blows up this weekend vs. the Packers and then Im gonna deal him for Chester Taylor since Chester has a pretty nice schedule and has already had his bye...

Being a Brown owner this looks like a bad situation. Unless Saban changes things I'm guessing Brown tops out at 3-4 catches a game.. BUMMER

Wierd statement...since Harrington has come in and made defenses at least respec the pass, it has opened up the run for Brown.

I'd rather he rush for 120+ yards/TD with Harrington that the 60 yds/O TD/5 catches with Culpepper.

The last two weeks during the games I had posted that R Brown was not catching any passes from Harrington. Prior to that he was very much involved in the passing game.

Saban and Harrington do not impress me. You need to get the ball to the best player on the team as much as possible. Taking him out of the passing game is a mistake. And throwing inside the redzone instead of trying to punch it in is also a mistake imo.

That said I would take 100 yds rushing and a TD every week from Brown.

When Joey was in Detroit he dumped the ball off a lot to the underneath route or the runningbacks. I don't know if it was by design in Mooch's offensive or Joey. Regardless, the Lions had a lot of 6 yard gains on 3rd and 8, etc. Shawn Bryson averaged 45 catches a season from 2003-2005, and he was primarily the 3rd down back...at least he should have been. Mooch liked to split time between KJ and Bryson while sprinkling in a little Artose Pinner...god knows why. One year I think Bryson was even the leading receiver for the team in catches, but that's more because our WRs sucked.

That being said, as an ex-Warner owner, I traded Ronnie Brown for Eli Manning last week.

What? Harrington has played two games and Ronnie Brown had his worst game against New England. Brown ran all over the Jets last week DESPITE the Jets getting a big lead. Why? Because my grandmother could run on the Jets and not because of some new found "respect" people have for Joey Harrington.

In truth...Ronnie Brown should have gotten 32 carries last week instead of 22 carries. Again, when the defenses aren't as pisspoor as the Jets Brown will vanish behind that quagmire which is the Dolphins offensive line..that is if Saban doesn't lose him first.

I've been complainging about this for weeks... too many passes, not enough running, taking Brown out of the passing game etc etc... Now the media is getting on Saban's case...

Dolphins' Brown carrying a lighter load

the Dolphins' 1-6 start and Brown's surprisingly tempered role in the offense may go hand in hand.

With Brown spearheading the rushing attack in his second NFL season, new offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey was expected to place a stronger emphasis on the run than predecessor Scott Linehan. Instead, the Dolphins are averaging the second-lowest number of carries (22.1) in the NFL despite early-season issues at quarterback and along the offensive line.

Brown ranks 15th in the NFL in rushing with 464 yards and is averaging a solid 3.8 yards per attempt. But he has tallied 17 or fewer rushes in five of seven games, including last Sunday's 34-24 loss to Green Bay. And although he split playing time with the suspended Ricky Williams for three of the first seven games last year, Brown only has eight more carries (122) at the same point this season with a shakier backup situation.

So much for preseason speculation about whether Brown could handle the wear and tear of being a feature back for the first time in his college or NFL career.

Brown appeared guarded when asked whether he was surprised at not receiving a heavier workload once eavesdropping Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder interjected, half-jokingly saying, "Don't get crazy now. You're a company man."

"Just a little bit," Brown answered after a brief pause. "But I think it's just how our season has been going. A lot of times we're playing from behind and it's not having the opportunity to carry the football because we're fighting against the clock."

But there also were four losses where the Dolphins opted to shun the run even when entering the fourth quarter leading or trailing by a touchdown or less. That was especially evident against Green Bay, when Mularkey called 28 fourth-quarter passes without a single running play, even though the Packers didn't open a double-digit lead until 6:11 remained.

Even if the fourth quarter is removed from the equation, the Dolphins still have more passing plays (183) in the first three quarters than runs (130) this season.

"It's kind of game circumstances to some degree," said Saban, who doesn't make Mularkey and other assistant coaches available to the media. "I don't think it's philosophically what we want to do [or] how we go into the game planning it."

Saban acknowledged the Dolphins could have given Brown more opportunities to show why they made him the No. 2 overall selection in the 2005 draft.

"We would like to run the ball more than we've run it," Saban said.
